Barn Charm 17

This barn was found about 10 miles from St. Augustine, FL.
Can you see how smoky the air is above the barn?
Florida and Georgia are on fire right now.
We only had one day that we saw a blue sky
and that was because the winds shifted.
But we were happy to see that!

Tasty Tuesday From My Garden

I know it is Wednesday but I am at the beach with the GRANDs and niece and nephew.
They are still sleeping so of course I'm blogging.
Once they are awake I'm done for the day.
It will be all Fun and Sun!
(Not my favorite to much any more. You find me in the
shade under the hat and long sleeve shirt with a good book.)

I can not tell you how exciting it was to pick my first tomato of the season.
This is the first year we  have had any luck growing tomatoes.
Why are they such a fussy plant?
But they are my favorite by far!
I can eat three of these tomatoes just cut up with salt and pepper as a meal.

2 Handed Kitchen Sink Tomato Sandwich
Ingredients:
1 -2 large fresh picked vine ripened tomato
2 slices bread
salt and pepper
Kraft mayonnaise

Directions:
1 In the peak of tomato season, chill 1 very large or 2 medium size tomatoes that have been vine-ripened and have plenty juice.
2.Take 2- slices of bread and coat them with 1/4 inch good mayonnaise.
3. Add layer of tomatoes cut 1/4 inch thick.
4. Salt & Pepper to taste.
5. Add another slice of tomatoes and salt and pepper to taste again.
6. Add the other piece of bread on top of this.
7. Roll up your sleeves and start eating over the kitchen sink while the juice runs down your elbows.

Southern Girls Breakfast

But first, the hair.

As if one big flower, which she loves, isn't enough
she must add 4 sparkle headbands to the mixture.

I asked her if she had enough headbands
in her hair and this is the look I got.
"NO" bows here!
You just get to that point where you
think you are done with hair bows.
One egg scrambled,
Cheese grits,
Bacon and wheat toast.
Chocolate milk for this girl,
white milk for the other one.

Nummy, nummy!
In the summertime the girls like to go to breakfast about
once a week at a small cafe just down the road.
They are well known there I guess
because the owner/waitress just says,
"Good Morning, Girls, will you be having the usual?"
And "yes, Ma'am" is always the answer!

Tasty Tuesday

Alright Anna, here's the recipe.
You can also cut the oil to 3/4 cup
and that has turned out good. I want to cut it even more
to just a half a cup of oil but when I have baked
it it has been for others and not had time to
really experiment with their recipe.
*Also I have made it with Splenda granulated sugar
and Splenda brown sugar. It's more dense and not as moist.
It's edible.

Zucchini Bread

2 eggs beaten

1 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups of grated zucchini

Mix Wet ingredients together.

Mix together dry ingredients.

3 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon soda

1 teaspoon bk. powder

2 teaspoons cinnamon

3/4 teaspoons nutmeg

Add to wet ingredients. a little bit at a time.

Bake in bunt pan or two loaf pans and bake for an hour or a little longer if necessary.

Mellow Yellow Monday

I'm glad I had my camera with me for this weeks
Mellow Yellow Monday!
I love finding a deal or maybe a steal
better than anything!

The Sweetheart and I are slowly
and I mean S.L.O.W.L.Y...
trying to remodel our 30 year old home
to be more handicap accessible.
It is S.L.O.W.L.Y...
driving me CRAZY!
But...
the Sweetheart is a wise and frugal man
and we are trying to pay as we go and
stay out of debt.
You know, in this economy
and everything.

And boy did we ever find a great deal
on Saturday, to good to pass up.
Glad that there was a fork lift around to lift this load up
in the back of the truck.

That is a pallet of 44 boxes
of 18 x 18 Latin Quarter Blue
Porcelain tile.

And this is a picture of the Sweetheart
supervising the loading of said tile.

Crazy thing is ....
that is only half the tile I bought!
I had to leave the other full pallet at the ware house
to be picked up one day next week.

Original price of the tile was wholesale
warehouse price of $2.69 a square foot.
It was on sale for one day
only for .99 cents a square foot.
We think that was a great price and the fact that we both loved it is amazing.
Every piece is different and looks so cool laying out together.
It has blues, yellows, tans, blacks and browns and it's textured!
And the best part is that it will be great for dogs, kids and a mobility scooter/wheelchair.
And it won't easily show dirt!
Only thing is, it will still be weeks before we can get it laid.
Oh well, we will have it and it is ready when it's time to install.
Go here to join or view other Mellow Yellow Monday's.

Hurricane Season 2011

Hurricane Season Begins Quietly But Unnusually Active Season Predicted:
“Because we are predicting an above-average hurricane season in 2011, the probability of U.S. and Caribbean major hurricane landfall is estimated to be above the long-period average. This forecast is based on an extended-range early December statistical prediction scheme that utilizes 58 years of past data,” the CSU report said.

Weather Services International, part of the Weather Channel, had virtually the same hurricane forecast as CSU, calling for 17 named storms, nine hurricanes and five strengthening to the “major” category of three or greater.

"With the crazy weather we have had all over the United States I'm really NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT ALL!"
