Well it happened again!

We went to a wedding and reception last Saturday night. It was beautiful! The food was out of this world delicious! But they did not cut the cake until all the pictures were taken, the couple had their first dance, until they toasted whatever and on and on and on!! By the time they cut the huge, beautiful and I know expensive cake, most people had left the reception. I DID stay around for the cake, because really, that's what I go to a wedding reception for is the CAKE!

As we said our good byes and well wishes, the bride was begging us and everyone to take some cake with us. We declined of course because we really don't need any cake at our house! But I felt sorry for the family that now had to deal with this huge, beautiful and I KNOW expensive cake!

AFTERTHOUGHT:

People, please don't wait to cut the cake.

Please cut the cake towards the beginning of the reception or party! I have seen time after time people trying to give cake away because they have waited until the end to cut it,

just trying to be helpful here,

you know, just sayin...

Tasty Tuesday

Papa's Banana Pudding

Ingredients:

4-6 ripe bananas, mellow, not mushy

1 box of vanilla wafers

small can 8 oz of crushed pineapple

2 cups of cold milk, skimmed

1 large box INSTANT VANILLA pudding mix

1 tub of cool whip topping

Directions:

Make sure cool whip topping is thoroughly thawed. Place cut up bananas and wafers in layers in serving bowl. Save about 12-15 wafers and crumbs to decorate the topping. Mix together the crushed pineapple and its juice, 2 cups of cold milk and slowly stir in the instant vanilla mix, remember the box calls for 3 cups of milk but you are substituting 8 oz of pineapple & juice for one cup of milk. Then shake or beat with electric beater as directed on package, at least one and a half minutes, then pour evenly over the wafers and bananas. When the liquid has settled, spread the topping over the mixture. Add the saved wafers and add them in your own design and sprinkle on the crumbs. Best when chilled a few hours or over night in the fridge. Enjoy the taste and the compliments. Guaranteed!

Kathrine over at Smokey Mountain Cafe posted the most wonderful over the top Banana Pudding Recipe yesterday that I just couldn't believe. You've gotta check it out, so click here to do so. That started me thinking about my daddy's recipe for banana pudding. It's a family favorite and we all look forward to him bringing his to any family eating meeting!

Harry took me to see my 3rd concert in the Florida Theater in Jacksonville, FL.

We went sometime in the early 1980's.

We had seats in the nose~bleed section!

You know the section of the theater that you need your binoculars to see anything, yeah, those seats!

Sunday Stills is a place to hone your photography skills. Each Week Ed issues a new “Challenge” that gives us the opportunity to pick up what ever kind of camera we own and try and meet it. Sometimes we’ll look forward to it because it might seem fun and easy and sometimes we might have to rack our brain to get the appropriate shot to meet the assignment requirements. Friday Shoot~Out's~Darien

I'm not so sure I like having to come up with my own ideas for Friday Shoot Outs~My Hometown.

If you would like to join us let Reggie and Patty know and go see Gordan and have him put you on the list.

It's much easier having a Theme to follow.

I've already been to Darien twice this week and going again today. I decided to do my Shoot Out on Dairen.

Darien is north of Brunswick about 17 miles from my home.

If you have been around my blog a while you will know that Darien was where my Photography class went on our field trip last year, so some of these pictures were taken in the fall and some where taken this week.

Georgia's second oldest city, founded in 1736.

Coming over the bridge into Darien

this artwork painted on a building greets you. Darien has a lot of history for such a small town.

sits a pretty little water front park.

Remember the Purple Pickle from last Saturday's post? That is in Darien and they have the best lunch. I was there yesterday with friend and we enjoyed it so much.

Happy Birthday Christon

Happy 26 Birthday Christon!

Her birthday is April 25.

They are going to be out of town

on her birthday so we had her

birthday dinner after church

last Sunday.

Christon is the mother of my

two precious GRAND~girls!

I'm really sorry that neither

look like her. Shelby looks

and acts just like her daddy,

Harrison and Reagan looks like

Christon's mother and sister.

One thing about having children

is that you never have to blow out

your birthday candles again!

And you always have help

opening your presents!

Easter Sunday April 12, Grandma Griffis Birthday

Even when you are a great~grandma

and you turn 78 years old

and your DIL (moi) only has

candles that say you are 55,

you still get help blowing

out your candles.

(no candles are safe around here)

And when every one goes home
