The Thoughts Make Me Sick

Take 30 pounds of Apples. 

And a spanking new wash tub.

And a crowd of cute kiddo's and you get this.

My assignment for the Primary Fall Festival, Apple Bobbing.

My Shelby went first (thank goodness)
 Reagan is a smart girl, she wouldn't even try it.

The thoughts of apple bobbing in the midst

 of cold and flu season just grosses me out!

All those germs just swirling around and around

makes me gag. I had a hard time even thinking about it

but fortunately most of the apples had nice long stems

and I encouraged the kids to pick up the apples by the stems.

That was very easy and most those little ones

were able to do just that :) Yay!!

This is my darling DIL. She is dressed as Fiona!

She always goes all out and enjoys herself.

Sad thing is, she has a Shrek costume for

Travis and he wants NO part of it!

She's got a few more days to talk him into it.

BYU Hockey Team 2010/2011

My nephew Ashton Ripley plays hockey for Brigham Young University.

This is his first year and I'm pretty excited for him.

An Alabama Boy, who's rarely ever seen snow, playing a sport like hockey.

He is the only one in that picture wearing a beard.

His GRANDmother, my MIL, is taking his mother and me

to Utah for our birthday's and to see him play a game.

It's A Good Thing

That libraries are air conditioned!

It was some kind of HOT today in south Georgia!!

As we were trying to get in the library I nearly died of heat stroke.

The heat index today was 112*

My truck said that the exterior temp was 102*

I'm not sure it got that hot on the record or not

but it was H.O.T. !!!

Any who,

I take the Girls to the public library for

the summer reading program.

Today they had a Magic Show.

Chad Crews was the Magician.

He was good.

But it really bugged me that his clothes didn't match.

I could hardly stand looking at him.

The girls were very entertained.

This one could hardly believe it!

She kept coming back to me and asking me "how did he do that?"

It was really cute.

I'd say I don't know, it's just magic!!

Now look at this!

Those shorts, really bugged me.

But he got out of this straight jacket and double chains in 2 minutes flat!

Impressive!

I love the Summer reading program for kids.

I always took my boys and now I get to take the

GRAND~girls.

Any way, this is the little dress I made for her to wear to the Easter Egg hunts.

The girls have one at school on Friday

And a Primary Egg hunt at church on Saturday.

I should have been sitting in that chair.

They were in Jacksonville.

They were seeing this hunk in concert.

I guess they don't say "Hunk" anymore, I think it's "Hottie".

Well the good news is......

Tickets to see Michael Buble' went on sale today

and Echo got our tickets!

And this time I am going and there won't be an empty chair by Amanda!!

I'll be sitting there and I can't wait!!!

But I have too because the concert is in July :(

(The Sweetheart will be paying for my ticket so I guess I didn't really buy myself a Valentine's present after all.)

I took this picture Monday 12/28/09 when I took the GRAND~girls and their cousins to the Jax Zoo.

Fun good times.

I guess I'm going to try and get back to my photography habits. I think that it is the only way to get any better at learning to use my camera.

Thanksgiving Movie

I Loved it!

Who knows?

I'm just not sure what to even call this post.

It's random.

Maybe I should call it life.

I'm in way over my head with life.

Let's start with Gizmo, "Mo" for short.

He is a Maine Coon. He weighs 26lbs.

He is the Sweethearts baby.

His last check up about two months ago, he was healthy as a horse and almost as big.

He's been on diet cat food since he was 2 years old.

It's not working! He's still big~boned.

Well...

he has started peeing on the bedroom carpet in Harrison's old room.
(Short of killing him, I've been thinking about sending him to live at the shop. Shop cat, that sounds good to me.)

We've been sleeping in that room while we remodel our bedroom to make it more handicap accessible for the Sweetheart.

So we decided that we would replace the carpet with tile.
As we were ripping up the carpet we found a surprise lurking beyond the baseboard and wall.

I was scared to death that it was termites.
Upon inspection I was relieved to know that it was not.
Only to find out that it was really Carpenter Ants.



They are extremely destructive!!


They make a really big mess.


After the treatment this is what we are left with.
Looks like, though, there is only two studs that have to be replaced as well as the insulation.
Once that is done we will but the sheet rock back up and then cover the whole wall with 4 inch bead board.
I'll be glad when that is all done.
November makes 30 years we have lived in this house.


We went ahead and had the tile laid yesterday.
This is James Young.
He lives in Waycross, GA.
He does and excellent job.
He has laid tile in the homes of both our boys and Christon's parents.

He came back today to grout the tile.
He was just getting started and you know what he said?
He asked me if I knew what a Tile Man's worst nightmare was??
Thinking this was a funny joke, I say "no what?"
His answer, "Black Grout"
Oh, I couldn't help but laugh.
Sorry James.
I chose Retro White tile with black grout.
You know me, I love black and white!

The second crop of tomatoes are in, in Waycross.

They are $6.00 a 5 gallon bucket full.

As James and his dad were laying the tile yesterday I was canning this vegetable soup.
Recipe, thanks to Connie again. I tell ya, she inspires me.

We talked all about canning and gardens and farms.

About an hour after he left yesterday he called and said that he and his wife were going to Maynard to pick tomatoes that evening and wanted to know if I wanted some??
HELLO! Yes! and thank you very much!
James only lives about 15 minutes from Maynard, where we get our tomatoes. He brought them this morning.
I'm having a tomato sandwich for lunch, yum!

Wasn't that about the nicest thing ever?

I start taking Photoshop for Photographers on Monday evening.
I'm excited.

I've got a lot going on and a lot to do.
So you might not see me around much in the next few weeks.

We were at the Georgia Aquarium yesterday with the family and I couldn't help to see silhouettes every where! I needed to show yall some more.

That place was a great place to spend the day!

This weeks Theme: Relaxation
Lena of Spirit of Lena (SOL) suggested the topic 'Relaxation'. "My idea for relaxation was anything or place that fill people with a sense of calmness or relaxation, like a favorite garden, sitting on the porch, or park, etc. Anyplace that fills them with a sense of happiness and calm."

For the last 32 years this sweetheart has "filled me with a sense of happiness and calm"!

Watching these two dig at the

beach is very relaxing.

Baking is very relaxing for me.

Notice I didn't say "cooking."


For me, sewing is relaxing.
I also enjoy making the GRAND~girls hair bows.

I also love ironing and find it relaxing.

Sometimes I put in a good movie and

iron through the whole thing.

(sorry about the dead animal)

All my men hunt.

When hunting season starts and they head

to the woods before daylight and do not

come home until after dark, I get to do

what I want all day long and don't have to cook :)

now that's relaxing.

Fresh ocean air and sunshine is very relaxing.

Having a two year old massage your feet at

the local water park is also a fun way to relax.

In the afternoons after Pop Pop

comes home from work we all take

a relaxing ride around the neighborhood

looking for the ice cream man.

Rain and thunderstorms are relaxing.

Boating and fishing are definitely relaxing.

Reading and reading to the Grand~girls

is a great form of relaxation.

And at the end of the day watching the

beautiful sunset is the best form of relaxation.
