Waiting For Fireworks

This year we viewed the fireworks in old downtown Brunswick.
We got there over an hour early to get a good place.
We try and sit right at the edge of the parking lot so that
the Sweetheart can get right out and sit down
and no walking or tripping involved.
Of course it's a good time to take some family pictures.

 My GRAND, Shelby.

The other GRAND, Reagan.

My oldest son, Harrison and his wife Christon.
The parents of my GRAND-daughters.

The Sweetheart aka Pop Pop and Shela.

 Pop Pop and Rea.

My niece Leah and Shel.

The Sweetheart's sister Sue and her oldest son Aaron.

Family friend, Paige.

Family friend, Claudia

Family friend, Kara Mia.

My GREAT nephew, Jonah, Aaron's son.

GREAT nephew Manny, Aaron's youngest son.

The Sweetheart and his mother, aka, Gma Griffis or Kathleen.

Shelby and GREAT-GRANDma Griffis
and a fake cat.

GREAT-GRANDma and Reagan.

And finally the Sweetheart and yours truly!
The weather was perfect, no smoke from the fires and the best breeze.
Everyone had such a great time.
Half way through the fireworks Shelby yells,
"This is the best day ever"!!
And it really was.

Tasty Tuesday

This oldest child of mine turned 32 the 28th of March.
He had his favorite meal.

And I made his favorite birthday cake again this year!

Pecan Praline Cheese Cake
Crust: • 1/2 stick of melted butter
•1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
•1/4 cup granulated sugar

•Filling:
•4 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
•1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
•4 eggs
•1/3 cup all-purpose flour
•1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 325°.
Combine crust ingredients and press into bottom of a 9-inch spring form pan.
In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in condensed milk; beat until smooth. Add flour, eggs, and vanilla; beat until well blended. Pour into prepared crust. Wrap the bottom of the spring form pan in heavy duty foil; place the pan in a shallow baking pan, such as a jelly roll pan. Put the pans in the oven and add about 2 cups of hot water to the shallow baking pan, or to a depth of about 1/2-inch. Bake for 1 hour, or until lightly browned. The cheesecake will be slightly jiggly in the center.

PECAN PRALINE SAUCE

1/2 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. pecan halves
1/4 c. light Karo syrup
1/2 c. sour cream

Melt butter over low heat; add pecans. Stir until light brown; add sugar and syrup. Continue to stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and blend in sour cream. Pour over Cheese Cake.

I am way behind on blog posts that I may or may not ever catch up on.

Great Catch

The oldest son, the one on the left has a secret fishing hole on private property.
I found him in it a few weeks ago and took his picture from the shore.
He loves fishing and this day was so cold and he didn't catch a thing.

Last week I got an email from his cell phone with this picture!
He had caught this Big Mouth Bass and it weighed 7 and a half pounds.
He took the picture and then threw it back in for another day.
I was so wishing I had been fishing with him instead of what I was doing.

PECAN PRALINE CHEESE CAKE

This is the first time I made this recipe.

It turned out really good

I was pleased.

Harrison loves cheese cake

and he loves pecan pie

and it was his 31st birthday today.

This is his birthday cheese cake.

(Don't ask me what his hair is doing because I'm not really sure! I'm afraid to ask.)

Federal Grand Jury

There is a little jealousy at our house.

Our oldest son was called and chosen to be on

the Federal Grand Jury. He is one of 23 chosen

from a group of 43 individuals.

His Dad, my sweetheart, LOVES Jury Duty!

He can watch court TV for hours.

This would have been a dream come true for him.

Not so much the son that was chosen.

But he did sound okay with it last night.

He will serve for 6 months.

It's not as bad as it sounds.

He will only go the first week of every month.

He gets to stay at the hotel of his choice.

He gets up to $150.00 a day for his

expenses plus $40.00 for his service.

He will have to stay down town Savannah.

It is 85 miles from his home here in Brunswick.

The funny thing about this Son being chosen,

is that he his one crazy deer hunter.

Hunting season starts in just a few weeks.

I mentioned that to him with a little laugh

and he told me "no worries" he's already

planed his hunting around this service.

The son's wife isn't to excited.

She's a full time working mom that is also

taking two college classes. That one week will

be a little crazy for her because he is a

big help with the girls. But that is

what GRAND parents are for, right?

Sounds like a fun adventure to me!

NO! Not Another Shirt?

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Did you get your dad another shirt?

What about a new tie?

My Daddy
I know that all of you think that you have the best daddy in the world but you are wrong, because I do! And all of us children think that we are daddy's favorite child, but again, I know that I am his favorite :)
I wonder if I get my self assured~ness from him?
I love you daddy with all my heart.

The Daddy of my Boys

The Daddy of my
children's daddy.
(my FIL)

The Daddy of my
GRAND~girls.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
to all the wonderful fathers in my life.
I was suppose to go to church with my daddy today in Jacksonville, FL. He was singing in the choir at Stake Conference. Today was a special day in that they were dividing two Stakes into 3 stakes. I'm so sorry I missed hearing my daddy sing and witnessing history in the making. We got home last night around 8:30 pm from being gone 8 days. Sweetheart got out of the truck not feeling well and then started running a fever about an hour later. I'm not sure what is wrong but it could be accumulation of many things. He was only a little better this morning so we didn't drive the hour and a half. My sister and brother 's family got to be there and hear daddy sing with the choir.
I'm jealous but wouldn't leave Harry.
We vacationed with the GRAND~girls and their parents as well as Christon's mom and dad. We went to Branson, MO. We had a lot of fun but it was a long ride. All total around 2100 miles driven in the extreme heat. Again, glad to be home.
Hope you enjoy your Sunday.
