Funny Stuff

Shelby has strep throat again and went to work with her daddy.
This is what she spent her time doing.
Trying to sale her little sister.
Her Uncle Trav found this sign and sent me the picture.
This provided me with my only laugh today.
Happy Wednesday Y'all.

Last Year On New Years Eve

Our Family pictures changed forever.

One Angel is missing.
Our Sissy passed away New Years Eve.
10 minutes before the new year started.
One year later, we miss her and it has
been hard not to be sad this weekend.
I hear her laugh in my head, often.
She had a great sense of humor.

I'm trying to look forward to the
new year and all the blessings it will bring.
Wishing you all a wonderful new year too!
Loves!

Happy Birthday Sister Dear

 Carla Elaine Crenshaw Adams
The poor middle child of our family of 5 children.
We had a birthday lunch with her yesterday at the Seasons of Japan!
Twas a fun good time!
She was in town for a Dr.s appointment.
Good timing Sis.

These are Carla's daughters. Anna is the youngest and Jami Olivia is her oldest.

Our baby Brother was in town for work and was also able to join us too.

This little GREAT niece, Reagan, was so excited to have a party.
We went shopping at the Dollar Store and she and her sister picked out Auntie Carla some pretty funny gifts. Carla acted like they were the best thing since white bread and the girls really got a kick out of her opening her presents.

You recon we are all related with these cute freckled faces!

Both Reagan and Shelby with their Great Aunt Carla.

And then the two of us.
The oldest and the middle sister.
(I'm looking and feeling tired this week. Just been one of those crazy busy weeks)

On a different note:
Our sister, "Sissy",  Clarie Leigh passed away 6 months.
Her passing has left a void in our hearts and our family.
I still have issues with the way her funeral went down.
If you were there you might know what I am talking about.
Longest funeral ever.
And her father in law gave the concluding talk and didn't speak about her but gave the longest talk about her husband THAT IS STILL ALIVE!!
If I even think about it much I get bitter feelings.
So I try not too.
Oh well, whatever!

I would like to wish you all a very safe and Happy 4th of July weekend!
Smiles!
So I try not to think about it.

52 Years

Today is Sissy's birthday.
Happy Birthday, Sister.
~~
All day yesterday I couldn't quit thinking
about her and all she went through the last week of December.
And most of her life, really.
~~
While I was washing dishes yesterday a thought came to me
about when she was very little.
We lived in a house that was off the ground and had wood floors. When mama wanted Sissy to come to her she would stomp her foot hard on the floor and Sissy could feel the vibration and would come find her.
I don't know what made me think of that, but it was sweet.
~~
I've got pictures of the funeral day and every time
I start to write a post I just can't seem to find the words to get it together.
I'm hoping to do that before much longer.

1-11-11

Apparently ones feet are smaller in Utah.
Most embarrassing to be walking along and walk out of your heels.
3 times I stuffed toilet paper down in the toes
of my shoes trying to make them tighter.
It worked for a little while and then all of
sudden I was walking out of them again.
It's not like I could go to the closet and get another pair
I had only brought the ones.
I can't tell you how nervous it made me thinking
as I walked to the stand to give the Eulogy for my sister's funeral
I was just going to trip up the stairs.
I made it fine but did get stuck in the mud at the cemetery.
Now thinking, heels and Utah winters just don't go together.

Utah Is Cold

I know you said, No DUH!
It was beautiful as we were flying in to the airport
and the snow covered mountains just so
bright from the sun shining off the snow.
We had wonderful flights today.
I know it's from your prayers.
Thank you.
This is a hard thing.

Me, the Dancer

That's me on the far right with my foot out and my hands on my hips.

I took my dancing very seriously.

Look at that face!

Also in this picture from left to right, standing my cousin Becky Turner, my sister Carla in the yellow and black striped bee costume, Then Iris Valentine in the middle with the pretty white hat on, I'm proud of her for wearing the whole outfit. Next is Cindy Crabtree a Friend from church and then the serious me on the end.

Sitting: We are not sure who that girl is but how come she has flowers and the rest of us don't?? I think her parents loved her more than ours did :(

And very last, the littlest one is my adorable sister Lola Jill. Isn't she precious.

My cousin Iris, shared these pictures with me on facebook a few weeks ago. Nice squat, Iris.
She couldn't remember but she thought it was me that was holding that roll of toilet paper aka muff. So she had to dig the photo out and see for herself and funny thing was it was her holding the TP.
Fun good times!

If you think that this was easy, you're wrong!
It just about did me in!
I did get one to use on our Christmas card though.
They are so full of life and their personality really shows through.
What will I ever do when there is more than two GRAND~children?
Merry Christmas!

My Favorite Household Task

I love to iron!
Not many people iron anymore. I think it might just
become a lost art. That's sad isn't it.
I grew up ironing everything I wore. Even t-shirts. I usually ironed it right before I wore it.
My mama taught me how and she has a very specific way to iron certain things. I iron the way she does.
I have a hard time watching someone else iron a shirt or pair of pants. I would rather stop them and just do it for them because it pains me that much.
Everyone of my siblings learned to iron our clothes. My brother irons as well as I do.
When we traveled we use to take the iron with us. Now most hotels have an iron in the room and so I haven't packed an iron in years.
My sweet sister in law, has a story she can tell you about when she married my brother. All of his sisters and mama talked him into taking his iron and ironing board to the hotel in the town he was married in. I didn't think that was such a strange request since all our dresses had been packed in suitcases. But I think she tells a pretty funny story. We are a strange family. My only brother is the youngest and has 4 older sisters. I think we just prepared him to make a wonderful husband for her. I don't know that he ever got his way about anything. Poor thing, he did have it hard. But he sure is beloved by all of us and he irons his own shirts.
