The Red Chair

The Red Chair Revisited.
When the Sweetheart was in the hospital
I talked him into getting a new chair for
him and the kids and the animals to share.
They all love to sit on his lap and his old
chair just wasn't big enough to share anymore.
It is so big that he and I can both sit in it together.

I ordered it on line, and they call it " A Chair and a Half".
It is a recliner but not a rocking recliner.
It's GREAT and we all LOVE it!

The GRAND~girls can lay down together in it.

Plenty of room for 65 pound Bentley.

After a few days of being in my house
the chair got cold and got it's on blanket.

Walgrin loves the chair and sits in one corner.
Dawson lays in the other corner.

Sometimes they share it.
Even Mo, the fat cat can share it with his Sugar daddy.
I get to sit in it when they let me :)

Who knows?

I'm just not sure what to even call this post.
It's random.
Maybe I should call it life.
I'm in way over my head with life.
Let's start with Gizmo, "Mo" for short.
He is a Maine Coon. He weighs 26lbs.
He is the Sweethearts baby.
His last check up about two months ago, he was healthy as a horse and almost as big.
He's been on diet cat food since he was 2 years old.
It's not working! He's still big~boned.
Well...
he has started peeing on the bedroom carpet in Harrison's old room.
(Short of killing him, I've been thinking about sending him to live at the shop. Shop cat, that sounds good to me.)

We've been sleeping in that room while we remodel our bedroom to make it more handicap accessible for the Sweetheart.

So we decided that we would replace the carpet with tile.
As we were ripping up the carpet we found a surprise lurking beyond the baseboard and wall.

I was scared to death that it was termites.
Upon inspection I was relieved to know that it was not.
Only to find out that it was really Carpenter Ants.

They are extremely destructive!!

They make a really big mess.

After the treatment this is what we are left with.
Looks like, though, there is only two studs that have to be replaced as well as the insulation.
Once that is done we will but the sheet rock back up and then cover the whole wall with 4 inch bead board.
I'll be glad when that is all done.
November makes 30 years we have lived in this house.

We went ahead and had the tile laid yesterday.
This is James Young.
He lives in Waycross, GA.
He does and excellent job.
He has laid tile in the homes of both our boys and Christon's parents.
If you live in the area and need some tile work done, contact me for his phone number.

He came back today to grout the tile.
He was just getting started and you know what he said?
He asked me if I knew what a Tile Man's worst nightmare was??
Thinking this was a funny joke, I say "no what?"
His answer, "Black Grout"
Oh, I couldn't help but laugh.
Sorry James.
I chose Retro White tile with black grout.
You know me, I love black and white!

The second crop of tomatoes are in, in Waycross.
They are $6.00 a 5 gallon bucket full.
As James and his dad were laying the tile yesterday I was canning this vegetable soup.
Recipe, thanks to Connie again. I tell ya, she inspires me.

We talked all about canning and gardens and farms.

About an hour after he left yesterday he called and said that he and his wife were going to Maynard to pick tomatoes that evening and wanted to know if I wanted some??
HELLO! Yes! and thank you very much!
James only lives about 15 minutes from Maynard, where we get our tomatoes. He brought them this morning.
I'm having a tomato sandwich for lunch, yum!

Wasn't that about the nicest thing ever?

I start taking Photoshop for Photographers on Monday evening.
I'm excited.

I've got a lot going on and a lot to do.
So you might not see me around much in the next few weeks.
Wish me luck!
~
One more thing, it is a beautiful day here in south Georgia. Blue Sky's no clouds and 85*!

Watermelon and Mo

We got a watermelon from the farmers market this morning. The girls couldn't wait for me to get it cut. They were watching PBS and I was in the kitchen cutting the melon. I made the first cut and in a split second Mo was at my feet crying for some. I couldn't get it cut fast enough for him either. He didn't hush until I put him down the rind.

This is the only human food this cat will eat. He is strictly a dry cat food cat. But he loves him some watermelon!

Spa Treatment

Mo had an appointment
for his Spa Treatment yesterday.
I had to make arrangements
with Travis to take the fat boy
in for me. Weighing in at 25 lbs,
I just can't pick him up.
This is his before picture.
He was just shaved the week
before Christmas. See how fast
his hair grows.
Travis wasn't around to pick
him up afterwards and so he
asked Jordan to get him for me.
She called laughing and to say
that he was growling at the lady
in the office and wondered if I have
ever heard him growl before?
Yea, the last time he went in to be
shaved he growled just like a
dog at the ladies in the office.
Jordan also thinks that the lady
was still in shock as to his size.
She said that was the biggest
cat she had ever seen. They weighed
him before they cut him and he
now weighs 26 pounds.
This poor animal has been on
diet food since he was a year old.
He's just big boned!
A big breed, a Maine Coon.
As Jordan was driving in my drive
she called from the cell phone
and asked if I could come out with
my new Magna Cart personal Dollie
and help get him in the house.
I 've never been so happy as to help.
Perfect timing!

Awe, hey "Mo"
looking good buddy!
Thanks to Trav and Jordan
for all your help with
the Sweethearts best freind.

Tastey Tuesday

Fried Grit Patties
My Daddy's recipe
Generally Grits that's left over from breakfast
Follow cooking directions from the Grits package
Best to make the patties when grits are cold.
2 eggs
salt & pepper
one half chopped onion
a little garlic if you like.
2 tablespoons of flour
( helps to hold mixture together.)
Cooking oil
Directions:Mash up grits so no lumps are left.Break 2 eggs into mix. Add salt & pepper. Add chopped onion and garlic if you like. Add flour. Stir mixture very well till all is even, no lumps. Add cooking oil to fry pan, about 1/3 inch, enough to cover about half a pattie. Brown on both sides. Place browned patties on paper towels to drain, add a pat of butter on each one while they drain, try not to taste them till they cool a little.
Yummm !!!
Number Of Servings: Makes about 20 patties

"Mo"

This is the Boss!

He rules this house!

Until the grand daughters show up.

Then they rule!

He's a our 7 year old male

"Maine Coon" cat.

He weighs 25 pounds.

He's a big boy!

He's been on diet food

since he was a year old.

His given name is Gizmo.

Then Shelby came along and couldn't

say Gizmo and called him "Mo"

instead. So we all call him that now.

I was trying out my new camera
and he was a willing participant.
