Celebrating

Picture taken Christmas 2010 at Crenshaw Christmas Party

7 years ago today we had kidney donor and kidney transplant surgery.

What a miracle that we matched!

We are blessed and we know it and will forever be grateful

to our Heavenly Father for His tender mercies and

His abundant miracles.

I told the Sweetheart this morning that we should celebrate

by buying that camera I have my eye on.

He simply said, yeah right!

I think I am slowly breaking him down :)

Oh Happy Day!

Freezing

THE MOST COMMON PRECANCER
More than Ten Million
This figure is generally accepted as the best current estimate of the number of Americans with actinic keratosis (AK). People with a fair complexion, blond or red hair, (I guess that I am both, dark blond when my hair isn't dyed Red) and blue, green or grey eyes, (depending what I am wearing my eyes are either blue or green) have a high likelihood of developing one or more of these common precancers if they spend time in the sun and live long enough. Location makes a difference: The closer to the equator you live, the more likely you are to have actinic keratoses.

Well, I was born and reared in Florida and that is sort of close to the equator.

I spent a whole lot of time on the beach and in the sun.

So now I am paying for it :(

Today I had 11 actinic keratosis frozen off with liquid nitrogen and one skin

tag cut off and sent into the lab to be tested.

I am now doing this every 6 months.

It's not near as fun as basking in the sun covered with baby oil that had been mixed with iodine.

Hey you, use S.U.N.S.C.R.E.E.N.!!!!

I Can't Think

I really seem to be in a fog these days.
I must be just still trying to catch up from all the drama last week.
Things are good though.
The Sweetheart will take his last dose of antibiotics
tomorrow morning at the hospital.
After his visit there this morning I took him to work.
He was glad to get out of my house.
I'm not so sure he'll stay very long but even a little bit will be nice.
He is getting stronger each day.
We had a very peaceful healing weekend.
The gorgeous fall weather could have not been more perfect.
Grateful for all of God's many blessings and miracles.
Hope you all are enjoying your fall.
Have a blessed week.

I Sprang Him

Not from the Big House!
But from the hospital!
7:30 P.M.

We got away as fast as we could
soon as they wheeled him out the door.
I layed rubber in the parking lot.
Then I took the long way home so we could see
the huge beautiful full moon.
Did yall see it tonight?
Gorgeous!
He has to go back for the next 4 days to get his
antibiotic intravenously.
Not a bad plea bargin for freedom, huh?

Update Wednesday Morning

2:00 P.M. afternoon update:
We've been moved down the hall to PCCU and things continue to improve :)
Woo hoo!
He didn't sleep so well last night.
He had a lovely dinner of hospital food, fish and veggies that just didn't settle well.
He got something for nausea when I came in
this morning and he has slept all day, which is wonderful!
All of his labs and test look good and he is steadily improving.
They are looking for a room to move him into and get him out of CCU.

I hope when he wakes he'll feel better.
He is one blessed man and oh, how I love him to pieces.
I thought is funny how the nurse called him "a Sweetheart of a patient."
She didn't even know that I call him Sweetheart :)
We have felt your warm thoughts and prayers.
We love you and we thank you so much.

Have you ever been so tired that your glasses hurt your face?

That is how tired I was last night along with a head ache.

Sort of reminded me of wearing a headband that was to tight.

Anyway, I slept well and was ready to face the day this morning.

Hope you are all enjoying a beautiful day.

Hey Yall

Things continue to improve and they may
be able to move him out of CCU tomorrow and on to the regular floor.
The GRAND-girls are having a fit that they can't see Pop Pop!
We have been greatly blessed!
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers.
Hope you are all having a beautiful FALL week.

E-coli

The Sweetheart is doing much better this evening and some of the cultures are back and show that he has E-coli. I guessed that is what caused the Urinary Track and bladder infections. He is starting to respond to the antibiotics. I came home tonight I haven't slept in two nights. He is still in CCU and has one on one nurse care. I love his nurses! The day and night nurse have been just awesome, although the Sweetheart is and awesome patient as well. Hopefully he will continue to improve. We sure have felt the thoughts and prayers and warm wishes.
They are very much appreciated.
Hugs to all of you :)

Squamous and Shingles

Please use sunscreen!

I had a squamous cell carcinoma removed last Thursday using Mohs surgery. They were able to get clear margins the first try. I then went to the plastic surgeon to have her close it up. It started out as about half the size of a pencil eraser and then when they removed it and sent it off the spot healed nicely and it was the size of a pencil eraser. Now it's about a inch and a half long. I was surprised. This is the first time I've seen it since last week. She used inside stitches that will dissolve. I think it looks great and with a little makeup I'll be able to cover it nicely. I asked the Dr. to take a picture of it before she covered it back up for a few more days and this is what I got.

It almost looks like I am dead or asleep, eewwe.

The Sweetheart has shingles and I have never seen something look so bad and give so much pain. Blisters have finally popped and starting to dry up. I feel so bad for him.

You can thank me for not taking pictures to show you proof, it's bad.

So, how's your week going?
