New Trick or Treat Bags

October is finally over!
It has been one hard month.
The Sweetheart has had all kinds of setbacks since
his hip replacement on Sept. 25.
Not with the hip but with other health issues.
He has been a diabetic since he was 18 yrs old.
It has really taken a toll on his body.
We never know from day to day what will come next with him.
It's really hard to make any long term plans.
So needless to say, I'm looking forward to a better month.
Hopefully November will bring us lots of different hope and changes!

BA Hum Bug on Halloween.
But I had one crafty day this month and decided
that the GRAND girls needed new Trick or Treat Bags.

They were really excited about the new bags and the few pieces
of candy that I threw inside.
I live down a long dark and scary drive way
and have never had any Trick or Treater's
which is just fine with me, believe me!
I've made the Chili and the Mummy Dogs
and deserts and we are headed over to the GRAND girls
house tonight to feed them and watch all the fun.
I may or may not take my camera?
Depends on my mood.
I will take some cell phone pics though.

How do you like my Pumpkin Owl?
Mrs. Ella bought a black pumpkin from Michael's
and used an oil pen and painted the owl on it.
She gave it to me a few weeks ago as my birthday present.
My birthday is Sunday Nov. 4th, so it was a few weeks
early. She wanted me to enjoy it ahead of time.
This is the ONLY Halloween decoration
that I have put up this year.
I really hope my desire to decorate for the holidays
comes back again.

Well, I hope who ever is out there has a safe and happy Halloween!
And BRING ON NOVEMBER!

Mellow Yellow Monday

Finally! A baby blankie!
My niece Tara was in town for a wedding and
she came all by her little lonesome without her little family.
I had been wanting her to myself :)
for a private lesson on how to make this little blankie.
She had posted a tutorial and part 2 on her blog almost 2 years ago.
For some reason I just couldn't figure it out.
So after a very busy weekend we got to it last
night and finished right before 9:00pm.
Didn't take long at all.
I was thrilled to finally master this little blankie and
now I had better make another one quick
before I forget how to do it again.
It works great for my Mellow Yellow Monday.

Unwilling Model

Gets bribed again.

Hence, the hand to the mouth.

Nilla Wafers.

Wins every time!
Any way, this is the little dress I made for her to wear to the Easter Egg hunts.
The girls have one at school on Friday
And a Primary Egg hunt at church on Saturday.

Who knew

That a casual stroll around Bed, Bath and Beyond with the GRAND~girls

we would find this!!!!!!!!!

(And she just knew that that was a picture of Walgrin, himself!)

And since this little one is so in love with Walgirn!

and she got one of these for Christmas!
~
She had dreams of having one of these cute little Pet Snuggies for her little puppy friend that matched hers!
~
You know all wrapped up in each others arms and snuggies on the couch watching TV.
~
I reminded her that Walgrin was a boy and needed a blue one so we should wait and get a blue one.
~
She didn't want a blue one!
~
Boys can wear pink too.
~
Yes, they can wear pink.
~
But Walgrin is still at GREAT~Grandmother's and GREAT~Papa's house in Florida.
~
Well we need him back, now!
~
And we need his brother too!
~
Yes we do!
~
Mama and daddy can I come get them next week???
~
(They were trying to keep them until Shella's birthday two weeks from now, just to let them grow a little more before taking on a life with a 4 and 2 year old.)
~
But I can come get them next weekend if you are more than ready to get rid of them :)
~
I did some fast talking to not have to buy that Pet snuggie with a promise to make him one with my sewing talents.
~
What? Do you even think it will take an 1/8 of a yard for two of them?
~
Anyone have a pattern?
~
What color do you think we should make them?
~
I guess pink won't really hurt.

Captain's having a baby boy!

She has done her nursery with a beach theme.
So we had her cake made with the same.
Isn't it to cute?
Same lady that has made the last
5 cakes we've bought did this one too!
It not only looks cute it tasted Divine.
That sand with the shells in it is brown sugar.
So clever.
I was trying to be a little creative.

I stood on the chair beside her.
I think she thought I was nuts.
Again I was trying to be creative.
I kind of like this angle.

Her name's not really Captain, it's Kathryn.

When Shelby was just leaning to talk
she called her Captain instead of Katheryn.
She really liked being called Captain so it stuck.
We all call her that now.

She got some really cute and
useful stuff for baby Collin.

Blue is for boys.

Every new mommy needs a monitor.

How do you like the way I cut
the top off her head off?
I guess I was trying to focus on the
burp cloth I made her.
I was excited because it's the first time
I had sewn on a letter on one that I've made.

This is the first time I've ever
made a fleece tied blankie.

I sewed a matching letter "C" on it too.
I thought it turned out pretty good
for the first one I've ever made.
She was excited and she loved it.

I liked it so well I made another
one with a letter C.
This one had an octopus on it and there were
several more with sea creatures on them.

But she really got excited about this one
and the next one. Not only did it have the
babies initials monogrammed on it but
it has the Georgia Bulldog's ribbon
and colors. She is crazy for football
and her favorite college team is the
University of Georgia's Bulldogs.

I think she loved them!

Kathryn and Christon have been friends since high school. She is a Cardiac Care Nurse at our local hospital.
Her husband Perry works for the sweetheart at Griffis Steel.
They were both in Harrison and Christon's wedding.
They are special to our family.
They are going to make great parents.

Sew Fun

I got caught up on about half of my sewing projects. I sew love to sew sometimes it's all I want to do and other times it is such a chore. Lately I have wanted to sew and get irritated if someone bothers me when I'm hard at it.
On the other hand, THANK YOU sew much for your help with the serger information. The common consensus is that they all are a beast to thread. I must have someone show me over and over before I even think about buying one.
I'll let you know of my progress.
It will probably be slow because I sure don't want to waste my money for something else to sit around this old house and collect dust.
Make it a good day!
