Blink And You'll Miss It

If you get off of Interstate I~95 and drive
north to Savannah on Hyw 17 you will be going
about 65 miles an hour when you pass this sign.
It's about a mile before you get to South Newport.
Stop, pull over on the side of the road
and turn around.
Go back and see what you missed.

This is what you see from the road.
Yes, it's the smallest Church in America.
Well, that is what the sign says anyway.
Pull on in and park and get out.
I've never seen anyone here.
Just go on in and make your self at home.

When you open the door the light comes on!
It is very welcoming.
As you can see it holds 13 people.
12 plus the Preacher.
See the podium to the front right?
You are suppose to sign in as a visitor.
You can sit down and have a word of prayer
or just think a bit or even break out in song.
You can go to the front and preach
a great sermon if you feel the need.
I've not really done any of those things.
But it is fun to stop by every few years.
I think this made my 4th time.
Things haven't changed much.
These are real stain glass windows.
Very pretty.
A year or so ago I saw in our local paper
where a couple got married in this church.
It's free of charge, they say.
Not really sure who they are.
I don't know why but I am afraid to look behind it.
I was telling the sweetheart that I stopped
by the "Smallest Church in America"
a few weeks ago and he said,
"They haven't added on to that place yet?"

South Newport, Georgia: The still active Memory Park Christ Chapel is called the "Smallest Church in America." Built in 1950, it measures 10 ft. x 15 ft., has space for 13 people, a shrimpy pulpit, pews and a stained glass window with just enough space for Jesus. Grocer Agnes Harper built the church, and wrote the deed in the name of Jesus Christ. It is open 24/7 to all denominations.

Smallest Church in America:
Address: Coastal Hwy 17, South Newport, GA
Directions: Just south of I-95, on hwy. 17, 10 minutes from Shellman Bluff. Take I-95 exit 67 and approximately one mile south on Coastal Highway 17. Look for a sign on the side of the road that is white with blue letters half hidden with trees.

Today

First Day of Pre~K

You have to walk in and sign in every pre~k child.
When you pick them up you have to
walk in and sign them out.
There is no curb side drop
off service for pre~k.

Take this book bag off!
She was not nervous at all.
She knew several other children in her
class from last year and dance class.

Little sister made her self right at home.

And was not happy when she could not stay too.
Hope it's a great day and school year.
I go back to pick up big sister at 2:00!

Town Hall Meeting in Jesup, GA.

Due to other obligations we could not attend the Town Hall Meeting in Brunswick this afternoon. We didn't want to miss this opportunity and so we cheated and went to the Town Hall meeting in Jesup this morning at 11:00. Jesup is 36 miles west of Brunswick. We were early and this is what we found when we got there.

The line was out the door and into the parking lot.
This is one time that the sweetheart being in a wheel chair paid off. We were in the line to go in and a person of authority escorted us straight to the front of the meeting and we had a front row seat!

Congressman Kingston had already had a meeting in Alma, GA. before arriving in Jesup. They were expecting about 60 people in Alma. Over 150 showed up. Now that is a big number for such a small town. Well the college in Jesup was expecting and had planned for around 200. The people kept coming and they opened up the partition and expanded the seating and still people were standing along the walls. This picture above was taken 20 minutes before the meeting started. Well over 500 people came to this meeting today. From Jesup he was going to Waycross and then to end in Brunswick this afternoon.

I was impressed that they started the Meeting with a prayer.

I'm telling ya, we all need prayers with this Health Scare Plan!

It stinks and there is so much to be concerned about.

The meeting was calm and respectful.

And I hope Jack Kingston tells Robert Gibbs

to tell Mr. Obama that NO ONE WAS BUSED IN!

WE ALL CAME IN OUR OWN VEHICLES!

And PEOPLE ARE MAD AND CONCERNED!

Jack Kingston did a great job of trying to help us understand parts of this plan. He answered a lot of questions. I can't say that I came away knowing a lot more about the plan than when I went. But I do feel better knowing that Jack Kingston does know the ins and outs and he's concerned and will continue to fight for what is best for us as Americans and what we want from him in South Georgia. There is a lot at stake and he knows that. Our leaders in Washington really need our prayers. This situation is a real mess. They need to slow down and take the time to look at it carefully and not rush to push it through the way Pres. Obama wants them too.

That is Eric Johnson standing behind Harry. He is running for Georgia Governor in 2010. He was very personable and we enjoyed chatting with him a few minutes before the meeting started.

I hope that the meetings went well in Waycross and Brunswick today.

We enjoyed going and learning a little more of what we are facing as a Nation.

Tasty Tuesday

This is my Nephew
Chef Extraordinaire:
Aaron Jacobs
Pretty lady at his side is is wife Molly.
Aaron did the food at my D.I.L. Christon's,
sister's wedding last weekend. He works at
Ocean Forest at Sea Island, GA. as a Chef.
He's good and he loves his job.
He does Catering on the side too.
His food was wonderful and he got so
many compliments. I was so proud of him.

Grits Bar

Grits Bars have become very popular

for wedding receptions.

This was Boursin Grits and Shrimp Creole

with all kinds of toppings.

Boursin and Cheese Grits Ingredients

4 Cups Milk
1 Cup Grits
2 Tbs Butter
4 Ounces Boursin Cheese
Salt and Pepper
Bring milk and butter to a boil, and add grits.
Cook over medium heat for 15-20 minutes,
stirring often. Season with salt and
pepper. Add Boursin and cook
for 2-3 minutes.

There was also Pasta Salad, Marinated Roasted Vegetables,
a hot Spinach Dip, Fresh Fruit and Veggies. Ham and Cheese
Crescents and several other things.
But my all time favorite, besides grits is
Pat's Glazed Fruit.

Swamp Woman's Family Recipes
This a favorite and should be served in a clear bowl because it is such a pretty dish as well as delicious. Start by draining a gallon of good brand peach slices and cutting them into two or three pieces each. To this add three large cans of drained pineapple chunks. Then wash and dry 2* of seedless red grapes and cut then in half and add then to your mixture. Your ready for your glaze now. Open two large packs of vanilla instant pudding and pour over your fruit. Mix with your hands until the juice that was left on your fruit is creamy and coats the fruit thoroughly. Add 1/4 cup sugar and mix again. Cover with lid or wrap and refrigerate until completely cold. In the mean time wash 2 quarts of strawberries and drain, slice cover with fruit fresh and put in zip lock bag and refrigerate. Just before ready to serve slice 3# of bananas and coat with fruit fresh and add bananas and strawberries to your base. mix well so that the glaze coats all fruits. Keep covered tightly in fridge. Great served alone or with pound cake. Great for large parties and served in small clear cups. Always a big hit. Very refreshing.

Rehearsal Dinner

These are some of the pictures I took at Chelsey and David's rehearsal dinner.
I'm still having flash issues. I'm not happy with a lot of the lighting when I take indoor pictures. I have the camera and the extra flash, it's that I don't know how to use them to my advantage. PRACTICE is what I need more and lots of PRACTICE!

Morning Bath

Finally!
This little one is so full of faces.
Trying time after time to get a good one of her smiling with out her wrinkling up her nose has eluded my camera. I'm finally happy with this last one. For me it's a perfect smile.
