Cell Phone Saturday #8

My very first ride in the Sweethearts Money Pit!

It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be.
He's like a kid in a candy shop.
Very happy.
Still needs a lot of work but at least it is drivable.

I am late in getting something up.
We have had a week of sickness with our children,
GRANDchildren and now the Sweetheart.
Looking ahead to hopeful a better week!

I've shown you mine now you show me yours.

Out Of The Mouth of Babes...

I have always loved dancing.
It's a great form of exercise.
I'd rather dance than say, run or jog.
I bought the Zumba fitness DVDs last year
and have tried to get the steps down pat.
Little difficult but I feel like I have been catching on.
I started going to the gym for the Zumba classes.
I love to go.
It is more of a Hip Hop aerobics class than Zumba.
The dance steps are really the same just less hip action.
The GRANDgirls love the Zumba DVDs and
we were doing them yesterday afternoon.
They've got some really good moves.
I thought I did too until Shelby got tired and sat down and started watching me.
Then as I was Shimming and Shaking she said,
"Gigi?, Is there anyone worser than you?"
I'm like, "What?"
"Wha chew talkin bout Willis?"
"You mean at the gym? You mean I'm not doing it very good?"
She was like "yeah, you aren't doing that very good"!
Poor thing, she was all embarrassed for me.
And I though I had gotten so much better at it!
Who knows, I could be another Elaine and not even know it?

But in my defense, all she has to compare me
to is those half naked, 20 something, Latino, fitness instructors on the DVDs!!
I'm thinking in my head, I'm doing DANG good
 for a 50 something, GRAND-Gigi!!
At least I'm up and moving!
I'm still laughing about it, this morning!
 Have a Great weekend y'all!

Sweetheart's Money Pit Returns Home

The Sweetheart started this project 5 years ago before his leg was amputated.
After that he wasn't able to do the restoration work any longer.
So a friend has done most of the work.
And that friend has had it for 3 years in his garage!
Today it came back home to our live in our Garage.
I really wish I could tell you it is finished but sad to say it is not!
The air condition needs to go in and the interior hasn't been done yet.
Oh, I can see this being another few years of waiting.
I can say that it has been a pay as you go project so there is no debt,
thank heavens!
Once home, he let my Big Baby, Travis take him for a ride!
Good times!!
I told him that it looked like a
very expensive "Photography Prop" to me!
What y'all think?

I Survived January!

Just barely!
Did you?

My mail box?
Not so much :(
I got the mail out of it yesterday
around 5:30 and when I came home an hour
later I found it like this but
it was dark and I didn't want
to take a picture in the dark.

So I got a pic this morning at 7:30.
Somebody has a messed up vehicle!
Cause this mailbox is made out of a steel beam.
And because this isn't the first time this has happened.
It was buried deep and filled with cement.
So it ain't goin anywhere, folks!
"Yo car, gonna be tore up from the ground up!"
And of course there wasn't a sweet
little note in it saying, "Sorry"!

This was my sunrise this morning
on the walk back from the mail box!
Feb 1st, 2012
Awesome!
Going up to 74 today and
 forcast for 78 tomorrow.

Gorgeous morning sky!
Since I had my camera out I snapped a few pictures of the work in progress of our remodled bedroom and bathroom. I guess I could have waited until Bucky stood up but wasn't really thinking about that. The doorway on the right is the bathroom and the left is the closet. That pile of wood in the middle is my cealing.
That hole in the wall isn't a mistake,
It's where the fireplace is going!!
I know right?
I know you are thinking that is the craziest
thing you have heard today!
A fireplace in south Georgia!
Well for the 10 days a year it might freeze,
the Sweetheart wants to be prepared!
For those nights I might have to sleep in another room.
He freezes and I'm burning up!
It is coming along but still not
fast enough for me. The dust and
the dirt and the noise has about
 did me in.
I'm hanging on by my fingernails
and thanking the Lord for all my many blessings.
Sorry I haven't been around much.
 We be crazy round here!
And just want to say
Thank You, Florida!
And Callista's helmet hair bugs me.
(sorry that was mean)
Have a great day and a great Month of Febuary!

Barn Charm #37

My blog friend Katherine sent this in an email a long time ago and I found it again. Not sure if I have shared it before or not. Just can't remember.
Be sure to read the details below that goes with the video. Enjoy!

News report from Bruno , NE In 1981, Herman Ostry and his wife, Donna, bought a farm a half mile outside of Bruno , Nebraska , a small community sixty miles west of Omaha . The property had a creek and came with a barn built in the 1920's. The barn floor was always wet and muddy. When the creek flooded in 1988, the barn ended up with 29 inches of water covering the floor. That was the last straw. Ostry needed to move it to higher ground.

He contacted a building moving company and was discouraged by the bid. One night around the table, Ostry commented that if they had enough people they could pick the barn up and move it to higher ground.. Everyone laughed.

A few days later, Ostry’s son Mike showed his father some calculations. He had counted the individual boards and timbers in the barn and estimated that the barn weighed approximately 16,640 pounds. He also estimated that a steel grid needed to move the barn would add another 3,150 pounds, bringing the total weight to just under 10 tons. He figured it would take around 350 people with each person lifting 56
lbs. to move the barn.

The town of Bruno , Nebraska was planning its centennial celebration in late July of 1988. Herman and Mike presented their barn moving idea to the committee. The committee decided to make it part of their celebration. So, on July 30, 1988, shortly before 11 a.m., a quick test lift was successfully made. Then, as local television cameras and 4,000 people from eleven states watched, 350 people moved the barn 115 feet south and 6 feet higher up a gentle slope and set it on its ne w foundation.

The reason most people think that something cannot be done is because they know that they can’t do it by themselves. But impossible things can be done if join together in the task. Working together, we can not only move barns, but change the world.
