Horton House

Isn't Jay just a precious baby boy?

Jay's mom is Kristie and Kristie's mom is my good friend Beth Newsome.

I took his pictures last Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.

It was a beautiful Fall day with temperatures in the 80's

I took the pictures at the Horton House on Jekyll Island.

I love this place for pictures and I know yall have seen it often in my portraits.

The following is posted on a historical marker to the back of the house.
~~~~~
MAJOR WILLIAM HORTON
Born in England
Came to Georgia in 1736
Died at Savannah in 1748
These are the remains of Horton's tabby house. Major Horton of Oglethorpe's Regiment, the first English resident of Jekyll Island, erected on the north end of Jekyll a two story dwelling and large barn. He cleared fields here for cultivation of crops which supplied the settlers at Frederica on St. Simons Island, a neighboring island, who would have suffered except for this assistance. Major Horton cut a road across the north end of Jekyll, running east and west, from this tabby house to the beach. This road is still known as the Horton Road.
Major Horton was a trusted officer chosen by James Oglethorpe for important missions. Upon Oglethorpe's final return to England in 1743, Major Horton succeeded him as commander of the military forces of the Colony of Georgia.
Poulain du Bignon, owner of Jekyll Island after the Revolutionary War, repaired the Horton tabby house and made it his home. As the du Bignon family grew, wooden wings were added to the house.
This is Tristan, Jay's step brother.
This is Jay with his Aunt Cathy.
I enjoyed taking their pictures on such a perfect day.
Jacob's 1st Birthday
From this to this in one year!
Notice the short hair on the 3 year old stylist :)
Jacob is her only cousin on her mom's side of the family.
He is one loved little boy!
1st Birthday Parties are the cutest.
Jacob is my DIL's only nephew.
No relation to me.
14 Months
I saw Collin at a birthday party over the weekend.
Can't believe how fast he is growing.
Thanksgiving Drama
No one burnt the turkey.
No one tried to make real pie crusts 4
times only to have them not turn out!
Solved that one long time ago by just buying
ready made pie crusts.
No the real DRAMA involved a pair of scissors!
We had the most beautiful week last week!
The weather could not have been more perfect.
Fortunately I had taken the girls on Tuesday
afternoon and taken their Christmas Pictures.
Wednesday afternoon their parents took them
to the movies to see Tangled in 3-D.
They all enjoyed it.
On Thanksgiving morning the 3 year old blond
decided she wanted to look like Punzel (Rapunzel)
after Rapunzel cut her hair.
Here she is with her Aunt Emmy
after she had already had the friend hairdresser try and fix it.
It's cute but still gaped in several places.
It will take until next year to grow out in those places.
You could hear the screams and the crying from her mother.
It was really sad.
She had to come to Thanksgiving dinner with a Santa Hat on
to cover up the damage.
The hair cutting friend didn't get back into town until late
Thanksgiving night.
I don't think the little Miss will be
cutting any ones hair anytime soon!
Tooth Fairy Visit
I picked Shelby up from school yesterday and
she meet me waving a zip lock bag in the air.
No idea what was going on until she smiled!
She was so excited.
I immediately thought of my daddy.
He loves to pull teeth and a lose one around him is just not save.
It was just hanging and so the teacher just took it out.
No tears, no pain and very little blood.
Just all smiles!
She will be 6 the end of January.
Seems a little early to lose a tooth but she was happy about it.
One tooth fairy was in a tree stand in Kansas and the other Tooth Fairy left $3.00.
Wordless Wednesday
Cell Phone Pic
I was sick of the Sweetheart's chair.
He had really worn it out.
He complained that his chair wasn't big
enough for the girls or Bentley to sit with him
and they all like to be on his lap.
I finally got around to ordering him a new one.
It's called a chair and a half.
And it is huge and perfect.
Yesterday he had both girls in the chair
with him and he was reading books.
But then they all started fighting over who's book was to be read next.
The girls leave and then Bentley thinks it is his turn.
Except he nearly runs the Sweetheart out of the chair with his
snoring and gassing.
It's red and it reclines!
We love it and I will take a better picture of it soon.
Mater Look-A-Like ??
For more Mid~Week~Blues check it out here.
And for more Ruby Tuesday participants check out this site.
The GRAND~girls thought that this old truck looked like Mater.
Shelby didn't want her picture taken but Reagan and my niece Anna were willing models.
I LOVE rusty things and this truck just did it for me.
The truck had a for sale sign of $10,000.00,
little to much don't you think?
Thankful
My Mid~Week~Blues this week is the blue skies and a blue tractor.
Click here for other Mid Week Blues.
Thankful for a tractor to do the real work in the garden.
Thankful that the Sweetheart can use the tractor.
Thankful that I don't have to stand behind a mule or feed a mule every day.
