Silly Sock Day / Relay For Life

For $1.00 the GRAND-girls wore silly socks today to school.
the money went to Relay for Life.
Guess who was making socks last night at 11:00?
I finished all 4 socks 5 minutes till midnight.

I don't really like cell phone pics but that is
all I could come up with in the middle of the night.

But then that is all I used at 7:30 this morning was the cell phone.

The GRAND-girls spent the night with me last night
and were very happy this morning to wake up to their cute socks.
They got a lot of Ooos and Ahhs this morning as they walked to class.

Barn Charm #26

I didn't even have a lens wide enough to capture the whole scene.
I could have gotten out of the car and ran back but I was to lazy
and the Sweetheart wouldn't back up!
What to do?

National Dog Day

August 26 is National Dog Day.
This was on Fox News yesterday and was so tender
and really touched my heart.
This is the funeral of one of those Navy Seal's.
If you have 2 minutes watch the You-tube video.
Brought tears to my eyes.

"Should be posted every 2 miles on every Interstate highway!"

When I saw this sign I thought of you Cherie and all your crazy driving behavior.

Mellow Yellow Monday

This is a picture of Reagan on the first day of school.
She was a little nervous.
She and the boy beside her were looking for a
seat on the floor with the rest of the children.

This post is about the little boy in the yellow shirt.
When I went to pick Rea up after school I sat down in the cafeteria
to wait another 20 minutes before Shelby got out.
This little boy walks up to me and asked me my name.
I tell him and then ask him what his name was?
He tells me his name is Carter.
So, Carter, and I have a nice little conversation.

Two days later I go to pick Rea up again and here comes
Carter. I say, Hey, Carter, how are you to day?
He says, my name is Hunter.
I guess my hearing is bad and maybe I just heard wrong that first day.
I apologized and we have another funny little conversation.
He is quite the character.
I love talking to 4 year olds they are so funny.

Soon as we left school we went by Griffis Steel Co.
to see Pop Pop, Unk. Travis and the girls daddy, Harrison.
Also we see Cheryl, the Secretary at the shop.
The girls love her and always want to visit with her.
She asks us about a little boy in Rea's class named "Robert".
I tell her I don't know who Robert is.
She tells me that he is the little boy in the yellow shirt, standing beside Rea.
I'm like, no, his name is Hunter.
She knows the child and laughs and says, No his name is Robert!
Then I tell her about the other two names he gave me.
We both had a big laugh about the whole thing.
I just LOVE 4 year olds!

Friendship

The Gift of Friendship
By Helen Steiner Rice

Friendship is a priceless gift
That can't be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater
Than a mountain made of gold.

For gold is cold and lifeless,
It cannot see nor hear,
And in your times of trouble,
It is powerless to cheer.

It has no ears to listen,
No heart to understand.
It cannot bring you comfort
Or reach out a helping hand.

So when you ask God for a gift,
Be thankful that he sends,
Not diamonds, pearls, or riches,
But the love of a real, true friend.

That's for each of you and I thank you for your love and friendship.
Have a blessed week!

I Survived The Summer Of 2011

I realized that it is not really over yet but
for us, school started today!
The girls were excited this morning as I met them to take
a quick picture. I'm excited too!
There is lots going on around this place and this remodeling
is about to do me in for good!
It is taking sssssssooooo long.
It would be quicker to build a house from scratch
than to remodel this 30 year old home in the 100* heat of summer.
It's been tough and I've needed to be here more than I have been.
I've spent a lot of time with my GRAND-daughters
and we have had lots of fun good times!
But today we are all back to reality!
And the temperatures are suppose to be around 99*
and no rain in sight. That's a big UGH...

Reagan starts Pre-K this year.
She was a little shy acting this morning when we first got to her class room.
She will be fine.
She has been in nursery school for 4 hours a day,
5 days a week since she was 11 months old.

This is what she wanted to wear this morning.
I got their lunch boxes at Thirty One.

Shelby starts the 1st grade this year.
She's got this, no problem.
She was giving Reagan all kinds of advice this morning.
Christon said it was pretty cute.
Love her freckles.
She is her Daddy's Mini-Me.
Except she has more of my personality, dramatic.
Her daddy was always very shy, even around family.

Love her new Croc's and new lunch box too.

And of course they have new book bags to start the year off right.
And back to school haircuts.
I love this picture of them holding their mommy's hands.
I pray for a GREAT school year ahead!
