What~EVER!

I AM HOT!!!!
Not sure what is going on down here but at 6:00 p.m. it was 90* with a heat index of 103*!!!
Where is FAll??????
I am so over this extended summer!!!

It's Cotton Pickin Time, Again!

I can't hardly pass by a cotton patch that I don't want to stop and pick some cotton.
You see what's on the dash??

It is freshly picked cotton.
We stopped at a random cotton patch along GA. Hyw. 32.

A patch that was far enough away that no one would shoot us for picking a little cotton.

Shelby got enough to take to "show and tell" at school.

I remember my parents stopping so all us children could pick some for the same thing.

I grew up in Florida so coming to Georgia every October for a family reunion we drove past

many a cotton field. It was always fun taking some to school as a child.
It's fun to remember.

Big Baby's Birthday

Not today, but tomorrow is my Big Baby's birthday.
This was his last year's birthday picture with his requested Birthday cake.
Like last year he has requested me to make my carrot cake again for his birthday.
If you haven't made this cake yet, since it's been on my blog for over a year now, you really should!
Jordan made one last week and took to an office birthday party and it was a hit.
You really can't go wrong, I promise, you'll love it!
Just ask anyone that has had it, they'll tell ya how good it is, yum.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Carrot Cake
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 -1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
3- 4oz. jars of carrot baby food (like stage 2)
1 8oz can crushed pineapple, drained
1/2 cup chopped pecans
In mixing bowl combine all dry ingredients. Add oil, eggs and baby food. Mix on low speed until well blended. Stir in pineapple and nuts. Pour into two 9 inch cake pans or three 8 inch pans. Bake at 350* for 35 mins. or until it passes the tooth pick test. (when the tooth pick comes out clean)
Cream Cheese Icing
1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
1 -8oz. block of cream cheese
3 or more cups of powdered sugar
1-1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
Blend butter and cream cheese until creamy. Start adding sugar and a drop or two of milk until you get the right consistency. Then blend in the nuts and ice completely cooled cake.
