I'm not home this week so I went to the nearest cemetery

in Petoskey, Michigan for my pictures.

I thought it interesting that this fellow,

Casper and I share the same birthday.

The Other Deer Stories

Here are my other run ins with deer on this trip to Michigan.

We were riding along and I see this house and barn.

Of course I want to stop and take a picture.

No one behind us and no one coming so the Sweetheart.

pulls over to let me get a picture.

The place looks deserted.

No sign of a living soul.

I get out and cross the road.

I see that the gate is locked.


I decide that I want to stand on the corner of the fence to take the picture.
I start walking down to the corner of the
fence line and just happened to look down.




And so glad I did.
I came with in one step
of stepping on this fawn.
So little, I couldn't even believe it.
It was alive and barely moved it's little head.
Of course I take the picture of it and then
backed out so as not to disturb it.

Then I wondered where it's mother was and
why he was he curled up by the fence and so close to the road?

I went to the other end of the fence line and took this
picture which was a much better shot any way, wasn't it?




Then we went on down the road and took the
Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive.

If you ever find yourself on the west side of upper
Michigan don't miss it.

Well as we were driving around the one way loop
I see these ears sticking up and looking our way.

I take some pictures
and then she starts to run.

And running along right beside her was her baby.
Very small and to the left.
Can you see it?

I have enjoyed the beauty of this area so much.
I've taken lots of pictures that I will share in time.

Wordless Wednesday

Graveyard Dead

I killed my first deer today.

I was driving the Sweetheart's truck.

See the new dent in the center.

He did the damage to the far right.

Look closely at the deer hair still on the front tag.

We are okay.

The truck is okay.

The Deer, not so much.

I hate that it is such a waste of meat.

Had we not been 1300 miles from home

we would have taken it home to our boys.

They are hunters and we do love venison.

This is not all.

I have two more deer stories from this week.

I will post them later.

I've been on the road all day and I am going to bed now.

Tasty Tuesday

Dawn over at Dawn in Austin had this recipe one day last week.

Again as I was reading it I made a mental note of all ingredients

and of course I had them all!

So it wasn't long before I got up and made it.

Can't wait to serve it at a party or just a family gathering.

It was really good and she has a wonderful picture tutorial

Tiered Chesse

Two packages of sliced cheddar cheese,
a brick of cream cheese (softened)
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco
1/4 teaspoon of salt
Put your softened cream cheese in the mixing bowl, add Tabasco and teaspoon salt. Next, chop up cranberries (craisins). I find that straight out of the bag, they’re a little big, so I just chop them down. While you have your knife out, go ahead and chop 1/4 cup of the pecans. Unless you’re using the cookie size pieces of pecan, they’re too big, too.
Add all that to the mixing bowl and mix well. When it’s all nicely mixed together, grab a piece of aluminum foil, and place two slices of cheddar cheese, side by side. Spread 2 to 3 tablespoons of cream cheese mixture across the slices of cheese. Make sure you go all the way to the edges. It will be bumpy, but that’s okay. Place two more slices of cheese on top of that, then add another layer of cream cheese. Continue this until you’re out of cream cheese.
Wrap the brick tightly with the foil and put in the fridge for at least four hours. You can even make this a couple of days ahead of time. Just before serving, take the brick out of the fridge and open. Using a sharp knife, slice the brick length-wise. Then make 1/4 inch slices along the wide side. Place on your favorite serving platter with some crackers and you’re done!

We loved it and it really was so easy to put together.

I don't play the lottery but if I had a money tree grow in the back yard, I'd tithe 10% then give it all away in helping my family and friends to be debt free so that they could in turn help others. Where much is given much is required.

6- What song/artist do you always turn off when it/they come on the radio?

Anything rap~ish.

7- What one household chore is your favorite? (Or at least the least hated?)

Yes, because I'm just sure you are not interested in my personal junk.

Weekly, but I'm telling ya right now, if I had a maid and it was a more green thing to do, I'd love to crawl into clean sheets EVERY night!

Every other day.

I'm sure I probably have but can't remember a specific incidence.

4. Do you like to talk on the phone or send emails to communicate?

6. I have know people who take a new towel each day after they shower. Are you one of those people?

Yes, you should have saw that coming from the clean sheet thing.

Picture in the newspaper.

8. Do you buy new cars or do you always buy a used car?
The last few have been new. The truck I drive now is 6 years old. I paid it off 3 years ago. Before that I had an Expedition and drove it for 10 years and sold it to a friend who is still driving it and when I see it on the road I wish I had it back. BEST vehicle we ever owned!!!

9. Do you have a green thumb when it comes to house plants?

NO!

10. Where would you like to live when you retire?

Where ever my kids are living which is right here where I live now.

Somewhere in South Carolina

We took a little drive today over the state line

into South Carolina.

Our tail light went out again and I had to run

in and buy a replacement bulb at Walmart tonight.

Seems like we are getting good at this replacing tail light stuff.

We didn't have to buy the translucent tape because

the cover was not broken the blinker bulb blew out.

Any who,

I was at the right place at the right time AND

had my camera!!

I love the Zoo.

I have a yearly pass.

We seem to go at least once a month.

The closest zoo is an hour south of where I live,

It's in Jacksonville, Florida.

These were taken on May 3.

Those eyes looked as if he could see right through me.

The Anteater is about one of my favorite animals.
He just walks back and forth all day and I could just sit and watch.

Jiffy Feet

Aren't these little blue Croc's adorable?

I think so and the youngest GRAND, just loves the

color blue and this is what she picked out.

But this is what they looked like when

I picked her up from pre-school on Tuesday.

Not so precious any more.

I wiped her little face and we headed to the

grocery store before we picked up her sister

an hour later.

Soon as we get into the store you

all know what she had to do??

Yep, potty.

How come grocery store bathrooms are the worse?

I digress.

Well, when I took her out of the buggy her

dirty little Croc fell off her foot and in

horror this is what I saw!!!

Of course I nearly fainted and then I squealed and then she giggled.

I was quick to put that Croc back on her foot

before any one around saw that dreadful little

Jiffy foot.

Jiffy Feet is when you walk into a convenience store barefooted you get Jiffy feet.

You know, Jiffy Store, Quick Mart, Handy Way, 7-11.

You get the point., don't ya?

What do you call those kind of feet, besides dirty?
