When my kids were in Elementary School I hated going to the school because you could smell the cafeteria the minute you hit the door. The smell was so bad It always made me nauseous. I wasn't really looking forward to having lunch there this week.
Although I loved the one I was going to be eating lunch with the thoughts of the smells made me sick before I even got there.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good it smelled and tasted!
It was so fun!
I think I'll go again next week.

Shelby certainly looks like she was enjoying her lunch companions and her lunch!
I think it's great that the children can have their parents and grandparents as lunch guests, they didn't do that when we were in school, but as nasty as the lunches were then I guess it was a relief to our loved ones to stay away at lunchtime! lol
I'm right there w/you on cafeteria odor. Seriously....who that the food they served was a good thing? Shelby's lunch looks delicious. Glad you get to share in her school experiences. Blessings, SusanD
It looks like it was a delightful lunch.
What pretty children and their lunch does look good. I hated that odor too and to make matters worse, I was allergic to milk but back then nobody knew what was making me sick! In my 30's I lived adjacent to an elem. school cafeteria and could smell the food cooking early in the morning - yuk! Glad things have changed and I know she was proud to have you join her.
my little freckle faced girl!!
It's great to have grandchildren. Love them while you can because one day they will not want to be seen with you nor have you come have lunch at school. Lord forbid.
Glad the cafeteria has improved over the years. It sure is nice to be able to go have lunch with the kids if you want to. I wonder when that became an option.
Oh, and believe me, I don't think your grandkids will ever get tired of you like anonymous said. I had the GREATEST grandparents in the whole world. All of my high school friends even called my grandparents, Mamaw and Papaw. I was never embarrassed to be seen with them. They're both gone now and I miss them every single day.
What a cute, little, fresh face! I'm partial to freckles!
Looks like a good lunch. Hope you didn't spill on your lap like her little friend did!
I think school lunch has come a long way. At the schools here they have salad bars and everything.
I bet it makes the kids days when you come to eat lunch with them!
Cute kids and great photos.
I think they have made some improvements in school food since I went.
I can't believe they let you have chocolate milk--when I was a kid I hated milk, so I used to take a little packet of nestle qwik with me everyday. But it was still horrible--the milk was always too hot!
Wow! That kinda looks yummy! Fun grandma you are!!!!1
My school I teach doesn't have a lunch room. Most kids bring food from home. We have lunch order, and the food is catered.
Can you imagine, one day, one 5 year old boy had 3 sausages with 3 slices of bread? He isn't fat.
I used to love to have lunch with the kids at school. Mine were sweet enough to invite me all the up to 8th grade. After that, we would meet for lunch. hehehe
It's one of the things I can't wait to do when I'm a Grandma!
Sweet experience!!
I think I remember that smell. I'm so glad they've changed things up a bit.
