I photographed a wedding here at Dover Bluff a few weekends ago.
It was a Saturday and had rained all morning.
The skies parted and things cleared up for a very nice evening wedding.
It was held in the back yard of a private residence over looking the marsh.
This is a nice view of the Marsh from the back porch of the home.
This is a shot from the side yard.
The cake was so pretty and so delicious.
Close up of her bouquet.
The un-wanted guest were horrible!!!
Yellow flies, sand gnats and mosquitoes, oh my!
I knew they would be and I wore long sleeves and
long pants and used two different kinds of bug spray.
They also had sprayed the yard twice that day
but it didn't seem to help much.
I looked a little out of place with all the
pretty summer sun dresses but I was there to
get pictures not look pretty.
Several persons commented that they
wish they had covered up more.
It's not always this bad, sometimes it's worse!
We didn't have a cold winter to kill off the bugs
so summer will be hot and miserable.
So thankful for air-conditioning,
which I have been using off and on since February!

Great pics Gigi...I hear you on the bugs there in Ga. We got a good dose of the sand fleas(we call them can't c-ums)during our last visit to St Simons. Living on the Marsh has got to be brutal during the summer months.
Hi Gigi, I had forgotten about how bad the bugs can be, especially in south GA. Glad you planned ahead and covered up with pants and long sleeves. I know the wedding was very pretty. I love that cake - looks so delicious!
You have been using the air conditioning? Really?
I guess I'll take comfort in the fact that we have snow and freezing weather to kill off the nasty buggyness.
The boquet was beautiful. Vibrant yellow.
I love how you mention cake ( and it's yumminess) in the last two posts. I know how you love wedding cake! :)
P.s. I watched the 2 seasons of Downton Abbey just recently when my husband was out of town. I miss them, too!!
There is so much of the outdoors that are amazing.....why did God invent bugs and flies and annoying things like that.
I'd love to take a trip up north.....some cool stuff to see, but they have man eating mosquitoes there.
oooops !!!! guess my hubby was logged into my account....BARRY is my hubby, but the comment was all ME !!!!! (ain't he cute)
Wonderful pictures, Gigi. I hope you didn't get too bugged out. We've been using our air conditioner off and on for awhile now too. Thank Goodness for that invention.
Despite the bugs, it looks like a gorgeous place to get married!! Loving all the yellow - my favorite color!
Yellow is my favorite color! Love her bouquet! So, were the pests getting on the cake? Ick!
Beautiful photos. You have a gift.
We've been using our a/c off and on since Feb. too. I was going to say what a cool place for a wedding, but the bugs would be super annoying!
