Somali Pirates

Somewhere off the coast of Africa

I believe that there is a boat load of

Somali Pirates sitting on my couch.

And I would gladly pay the Ransom to get it.

It's been so long since I ordered it

that I really can't remember what it looks like.

I think it looks something like the one above.

All I really remember is that it is black leather.

I haven't had a couch since November.

I miss having a couch.

I gave the one I had to the DIL and son.

My new couch was suppose

to be in around Dec. 10th.
I didn't really need a new couch but I wanted
one that was more kid and dog friendly.
One of my Son's and DIL's
have a membership in Direct Buy.
The first time I ever looked at a catalog
I saw this couch and thought what a wonderful price.
So I put in for one, saying that it could be my
Birthday, Anniversary and Christmas present
all wrapped up into one great gift!
So the Sweetheart gave in to the begging,
and I had the DIL ordered it the 2nd week in October.
I wrote her a check to pay for it right then.
I had no idea it was to be imported from
over seas somewhere, I don't even know
where it is coming from, I just know it was
to be here in 6 to 8 weeks time.
So the week before it was suppose to arrive
I let the other DIL come get my couch,
thinking the new one would be in the next week.
An Email came saying it would be delayed
and not be in until Dec. 17th.
Another delay, January 8th.
and another, January 27th,
And another, February 29.
Still no couch!!!!!
The latest date they gave us for
delivery is March 26.
I guaran~dang~ te ~ya,
it won't be here then either!!
I just know those Somali Pirates hijacked that
slow boat from China and are sitting on it
somewhere off the coast of Africa.

Fresh air and sunshine.

Are calling me here.

To sit awhile.

Normal Person?

The Bathtub Test

During a visit to the mental asylum, I asked the director how do you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

"Well," said the director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," I said "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."

"No." said the director, "A normal person would pull the plug.

Do you want a bed near the window?"

Snuggies for Seniors

Kristina is doing a great fundraiser!
Check out her blog and see if you can help too.

You can also click on the above picture
to take you right to the donation page!

Remember this snuggie?
I never made it.

When Boo Dog is cold he just uses his daddy's, the Sweetheart's Snuggie.

And as much as he loves his Snuggie,

and she loves her Snuggie!
Don't you know how much Seniors would love to have their own.
So if there is any way you could help Kristina with her fundraiser
then PLEASE Do!

Redneck Seafood Dinner

I'm still laughing about this picture.
By brother just sent this in an email.
I just love it!!!

Where's Waldo?

Or may be it's "I Spy".

"I Spy" a baseball.

Can you?

Let's go big.

"I Spy" an ironing board.

I'm not sure you can even get up the steps.

Look there is a paper towel holder right there on the 2nd step.

Well if you saw something that you have been looking for for years, then I think you should call and see if they would ship it to you.

I've been past this porch a few times in the last few months.

I always go by when they are closed.

A few week ends ago as I passed it I told the Sweetheart that if we came back this way on our way home, that I want to snap a few pictures.

How do they keep people from walking off with their stuff.

One man's trash another man's treasure?

March 1st, 2004

Six years ago today we were at UAB,

University of Alabama Birmingham Health System.

A male nurse stood between the Sweetheart and I and told this joke:

"If a man and a woman are married in Alabama,

move to California and get divorced,

are they still brother and sister?"

The sweetheart laughed.

He's never forgotten that joke,

he tells it to me at least twice a year.

He still chuckles.

The nurse also told us about the big breakfast he had just eaten, knowing that we hadn't had any.

It sounded so good.

I also remember asking him if I could please get up and go to the potty,

he was sweet enough to let me.

When I came back, I remember giving my Sweetheart a kiss

before I got back on my operating room table.

We held hands and answered all the usual questions.

It wasn't long before we went our separate ways.

Him to one operating room, me to another.

For a girl who has always been afraid of going to the doctors and scared of pain,

I was surprisingly calm.

I wasn't scared at all.

I was actually excited!

Excited to get it over with and to get on with living.

The Sweetheart had been going to kidney dialysis 3 days a week for 18 months.

I would drop him off at 6 a.m. and go to the church and teach early morning seminary to the high school youth.

Then I would leave and go home and study for the next days lesson.

Then at 11:30 I would go back and pick the Sweetheart up and take him to work.

He only missed a few days of work while he was on dialysis.

I really don't know how he did it.

So on March 1st, 2004

I gave him one of my healthy kidneys.

The surgery was a success and the minute they attached my kidney to his bladder it started working and has been working normal and wonderful ever since.

Not one bad report in all these six years.
What a miracle!
He has been blessed with many.

Our family has been blessed.

And yes, we've gotten on with living!

(I wrote about the first part of this story last year in this post. I'm finally getting around to writing the next part of the story)

We are celebrating our 6 years tonight

with our children and GRAND~girls.

I'm cooking a special dinner.
Shelby picked the menu :

Ham,

Gigi's best mashed potatoes ever,

and chocolate fudge cake.

I think I had better throw in a few vegetables.

So celebrate with us and make yourself some chocolate fudge cake too.

(I don't know that I've ever made one before so I had better find a recipe quick. Do you have a good recipe for one, please share it with me.)
