THE PERFECT STOOL

I have the perfect stool. For the last 28 years this stool has set in the same place in my bathroom. My daddy made it. On the inside, written in pencil and the year in ink, reads, "To Harrison from Papa Crenshaw 1979" It's lifted many a little person up on to the potty and to the sink for washing little fingers and hands or brushing teeth. It's the perfect size, 13 1/2 inches long by 5 3/4 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches high. It's perfect for little feet. Some stools are a little to tall and tip over very easy, not this stool, it's perfect. Some stools are heavy and hard for little ones to drag around, not this stool, it's perfect! I have the perfect stool! Thank you daddy, (Papa and now Great-Papa) for making the perfect stool.

I told Shelby that when her daddy and Uncle Travis were little boys and one of them had to sit for a while on the potty. They would call the other to come sit on the stool and talk to them and keep them company. So now when she has to sit for a while she'll say, "Travis use to sit on that stool and talk to my daddy?" I say "Yes, and when Travis had to sit a while he'd call your daddy to come sit on the stool and talk to him." We've had this discussion over and over. Tuesday, she asked me to sit on the stool and talk to her! I did.

Infection '08

I am so sick! Sick, sick sick!
I can not believe that the candidate that I was voting for in November has dropped out of the running at this early a date!
What is a Republican person to do when you have no trust in anyone else that is still in the race?
My sad and (worried!)

Happy 4oth birthday Ryan!

One Down, One To Go

Harry loves it and would drink a cup every night if I would fix it for him. I'm a rare-occasion postum drinker. (gives me heart burn) He finished off the red jar over the weekend. The blue jar is almost full! I'm dissapointed that I wasn't more prepared with my years supply of Postum. Had Kraft Foods warned us they were pulling it from the shelves I would have bought it all, just so I wouldn't have been left short handed. So one down and one (precious jar) to go. Poor Harry, he really does like the stuff.

Hair

Shelby was sitting on my lap yesterday and we were looking at pictures I had taken of them last week on the Island. She was just a smiling at herself as each picture popped up. When this one came up, she said, "What's my hair doin?" "That's a mess!"

I kind of liked the wind blown look.

Dorothy Audrey

My best-est cousin in all the world is Dorothy Audrey. She doesn't care much for her name. Most people call her Dottie. She doesn't wear polka dots. I guess you know why.
Last week Reagan started "mothers morning out" at the same little preschool-school Shelby goes to. She'll go on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00-1:00. I met her teachers. One is Dorothy and the other is Audrey. Dorothy said, "You can call me Dottie," I asked her if she wore polka dots? She said "No!" You know why! Dorothy is on the left and Audrey is on the right.

Five Generations!

I was asked to speak at Peyton's baptism today. I was honored.

Her mother is September, her grandmother is Dottie,

her great-grandmother is Sharon and her

great-great grandmother is Audrey.

Audrey was married to my grandfather's brother Lyman.

Peyton was baptized by her great-Papa, Willard Rozier.

This is Peyton's little brother, Gage Michael. He'll be 2 years old March 24th.

Phil Says Six More Weeks of Winter!

Yesterday was February 2, Ground Hog Day!

Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/08 at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:
Here Ye! Here Ye! Here Ye!
On
Gobbler's Knob on this fabulous Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2008 Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators,Rose to the call of President Bill Cooper and greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths.
After casting a weathered eye toward thousands of his faithful followers,Phil consulted with President Cooper and directed him to the appropriate scroll, which proclaimed:
"As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me. Six more weeks of winter it will be!"

Living in south Georgia where it gets very hot and humid, I was thrilled to know that we would actually have 6 more weeks of cool weather! Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!

The Invisible Cat

Not to be out done by Gizmo, Gracybell is our invisible cat. Now she's a typical cat. The minute she hears the door open or the door bell ring she disappears. (Where as Mo, thinks he's a dog and comes to greet you when he hears someone.) Therefore not many people even know we have a 2nd cat in the house. She only come out when she hears the door close again and thinks all the strange voices have gone.

She's a petite little cat (12 lbs. compared to Mo who is 25 1/2 lbs.) that I adopted from the Vet's office when Gizmo went in for his 1 year check up. I sort of got him a birthday present. She had been ran over and some "Good Samaritan" had brought her in to be fixed up or put to sleep. She had a broken hip and back leg. The Vet was just going to keep her as an office cat. He figured no one would want a broken cat. But she caught Gizmo's eye and he was so curious about her and he really needed a playmate. I paid the fee for having her spayed and she went home with us. We call her Bell for short and she seems to be my whinny baby. (Both cats are real talkers.) Mo's Harry's cat!
We have one more cat, Miss Kitty, she is an out door cat. That's another blog for another day. I'm not really all that crazy about cats but I guess I would miss them if they were to suddenly move or somthing.

Fun Friday!

Yesterday was a long but fun day for me. It started off by having to get Gizmo, lovingly know as "Mo" by the family, to the Vet for his quarterly hair cut. Gizmo is a Maine Coon and has a hard time maintaining the best of hygiene. So we help him along by having him shaved in a lion cut. He's not usually a willing participant in this fun activity. He was very grumpy coming and going yesterday. When I picked him up he was growling like a dog. His Dr./Spa treatment is on St. Simons Island which is about a 45 min to an hour drive round trip from my house. He needed to be at his appointment at 8:00am so I was off and running by 7:20am.

Once I got back home from taking Mo, Harrison brought me Reagan, he took Shelby on to school. Reagan is 11 months old now and walking and plundering. I have to stay right behind her as to not have her eat the cat food or taste any other tid bits she finds on the floor. I usually feed her a bowl of cheese grits and then once she has a full belly she goes down for a morning nap. I rock her for just a few minutes and she's out for an hour or two!

I had to chuckle at the receptionist at the vet's office when she called to tell me I could pick Gizmo up. She said, "Gizmo wanted me to call and tell you he was through with his beauty treatment and to bring him a sweater because he was cold and grumpy." She has the cutest sense of humor.

When we picked Shelby up at school we went straight to the Island to get Mo. When you mention the Island to Shelby, her first thoughts are to go to the pier and play. So to give us all a break we went there first. Yesterday was beautiful and 71* here in South Georgia. Just a perfect day to play outside!

After playing for a while we went and got Mo and headed back home to play with Pop Pop before the girls got picked up by Christon. They were gone by 6:00 pm. After days this fun I'm not cooking! So I tell Harry, "Drive through of your choice?" He said, "Taco Bell."

JUST GETTING STARTED!

Hey yall, I'm so excited to join the blogging world, thanks to the encouragement of my niece Tara, I'm really going to try this! I've been a lerker for a few months now and been standing on the side lines watching and enjoying hers. I guess it's now time to jump in and try it for myself! I'm still a little nervous so be patient and I'll try not to make a fool of myself.
