Finally Fall

As I was leaving the house today I noticed this pop of color at the edge of our property! I couldn't believe it in that sea of green there was this one tree with fall colors! Whoo hoo! Finally!

Now when I looked at who won this contest, I was really excited. Her blog was one of the first ones I ever read and I still visit nearly every day. She's been my inspiration. She has recently celebrated her 1000 post! Wow! I love her photography work. She's good with a camera. And the real reason I was excited is that she bakes all the time and I know that she will really use these pecans to brighten someones day. She is one of the most thoughtful people I've never had the opportuinity to meet in person, but one day I hope to! Congratulations Ellen, I've got your address and I'll drop them in the mail today. Enjoy!

I LOVE BROCCOLI!

So when I saw this recipe for

Broccoli soup on Mrs G. of

Derfwad Manor blog. I had to give it a try.

She hosted Nora of Whooping Cornbread

and as part of her 'Slow Cook Thursday'

post. Nora had this recipe for

Broccoli soup as part of her post.

I LOVE BROCCOLI!

Any where, any way, any how!

Cooked or Raw!

So back to the soup, when I saw

how easy it was, I decide I needed

to make it. I love broccoli soup

but have never had the nerve to make it.

This was oh, so, easy!

Give it a try sometime.

I sprinkled Cheddar cheese on mine, m m good.

Broccoli Soup

Saute in soup pot: 2 T oil

1 onion, chopped,

(I used a good ole Vidalia onion)

Add: 5 cups chopped broccoli

2 cups vegetable or chicken stock

(I used 3 cups of Chicken Stock)

1 tsp salt

White pepper to taste

1 tsp dried basil

Bring to boil, then cook over medium

heat until broccoli is tender (10 minutes or so).

Put the whole shebang in the blender.

Blend. Stir some whole milk,

A half cup or so.

(I used a half cup of heavy

whipping cream and a half cup of skim milk)

Rewarm soup if necessary.

Sprinkle with Cheddar Cheese.

Enjoy.

Reflections of Christ

And We're Off...

God has blessed him so much.

He's (we've) been excited for this

day to come and it was yesterday!

This is the latest hot off the press Foot!

Harry is the first person in Brunswick

to have the newest model available.

This is Shannon (sp) Thompson,

he and his partner were so excited

to check out this new model.

We didn't know how lucky we were

to be receiving the latest and best!

This is the prosthetic sock.

It goes on first. Look close and

you'll see the screw on the bottom.

This slips on over the prosthesis sock.

Getting ready to stand up and walk.

And he's up!!

Whoo hoo!!

Go Baby Go!

Baby steps first!

He went down and back!

It was a little to tall so Shannon took it

off and cut it down a wee bit more.

This is what it looks like when

he takes it off to sleep. We'll just

leave his shoe on most of the

time. No real reason to take it off.

He's scheduled for Physical

therapy on Tuesday. A two

hour session to learn to walk

with the new leg and foot.

Harry says it isn't as easy as

he thought it would be.

He just needs a little practice.

And this is me, one happy lady

just documenting this great day!

Harry has been so blessed by the

Lord and his many miracles!

Thank you all for being such

an important part of our lives.

I snapped this as he was playing on the hand rails at Sea World waiting on Shamu to make his appearance. My teacher said this was the winner out of all my pictures he critiqued! It was the only picture of a child that was brought in by the whole class.

There is so much going on it keeps

you looking at it for a while.

But this is not what it looked like

straight out of the camera.

I gave it a little help. So look below to

the way I've doctored it? I don't have a

sophisticated program or

anything like that I just have

the free down load 'Picasa2',

it's very user friendly. I love it.

My teacher really liked it and

said it was frame~able! Whoo hooo!!

Harry asked me what I wanted a

picture of that junk for??

Little did he know I needed it

for my homework.

This is another one I took at

Sea World. I wish I could say it

was from my front yard.

I guess it's so common that

it didn't even get a mention from

'old teach' but I really like the colors.

Besides that I liked it and who

cares if he really liked it or not!

'Old Teach' did like this one too

for many reasons. I had several

more but I think that I posted them

last week. Sorry if I have over

loaded yall. I start my next class

December 3 (which happens to

be my 31st wedding anniversary).

I'm looking forward to both.

Comparing Notes

My grand daughters other grand parents stopped by the house for a short visit the other day and we were comparing notes about the girls.

So Emily tells me that sometimes she calls Shelby 'honeybun' and she asked Shelby if there is any special names that Gigi calls her??

With out skipping a beat, Shelby responds with, "yes, she calls me 'Grasshopper' and she calls Rea, 'Ladybug'.

Well when we hear this, Harry and I bust out laughing. That's the first time I've heard this one!

So Emily says, "oh, you mean you don't call her Grasshopper??"

Um, NO!

I call her all kinds of things but GRASSHOPPER!, I don't think so!

The child has a vivid imagination but seriously if it was 1972 I might think that she had been watching to much 'Kung Fu', (You know the one starring David Carradine.)

Where this one came from, who knows?? I'm tellin yall the girls a mess!

Wordless Wednesday

This is the youngest of my Royal Nephew's, Prince #2. I think that he is 5 1/2 years old. He was a such a cute baby!

But the real reason I show you this pictures is that every time I see it I think, my hair sure looks good. I love the back. Just sayin, sure wish it always looked like this.

Tasty Tuesdays

I Just Had To Try It!

MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

1 Coffee Mug

4 tablespoons flour (plain flour, not self-rising)

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons baking cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

Small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well .

Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

Add the chocolate chips (if using)

and vanilla, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and

cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug,

but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out

onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to share!)

And why is this the most dangerous

cake recipe in the world?

Because now we are all only

5 minutes away from chocolate

cake at any time of the day or night!

I over cooked mine just a little.

It was still moist and very chocolaty.

I also only used 1 1/2 T spoons oil and it

turned out fine. I ate 1/4 of it with

some cool whip. Tasty!

Halloween at Sea World

A very hot October Florida day (86)

(she was the only child that would

let me take her picture over by the pumpkins)

They gave the kids a trick or treat

bag and they had candy stations set up

all over the park. Lot's of children

wore their Halloween costumes.

We didn't know ahead of time about it

so it was just an added bonus!
