Nothing says October like Pumpkin!
I saw the recipe on Cherie's blog and needed some right then.
I had everything in the house to make it
and I did
Can I say Y.U.M!!!
Paula Dean's Oooey Gooey Butter Cake
Crust:
1 Yellow Cake Mix
1 Egg
1 stick of butter, melted
(to give this an even better kick add a cup of chopped pecans to the crust)
Mix with fork, and press in bottom of 9x13 pan.
Mix with fork, and press in bottom of 9x13 pan.
Top:
1 pound powdered sugar (4 cups)
1 package cream cheese, softened (8 oz)
1 stick of butter, very soft or melted
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Mix and pour over base.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes, or until set. The center should still be slightly gooey.
Cool and serve topped with powdered sugar. Delicious! But not diet friendly. :)
To make the pumpkin version, add one 15 ounce can of pureed pumpkin (plain pumpkin, not canned pumpkin pie), 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1 tsp nutmeg.

Oh that looks so yummy! My sweet neighbor from my old house used to make the Ooey Gooey Butter cake and share it with us. Delicious!
Adding the pumpkin element just puts it over the top I'll bet.
You are naughty! I told Cherie the same thing.
I probably have all the ingredients too.......I am feeling some peer pressure.
It is so decadent!! Glad you made it - it is definately a keeper!!
Happy Sunday Gigi :-D
Pumpkin = yummy
I love pumpkin gooey cake, but I can't make it very often ; (
Oh yeah. That looks DELISH!!
That looks just like the kind that I make, but the recipe's are slightly different. I have to say between now and New Years, I prolly make over 15 batches,..... so yummy. I think I just added that to my list today : )
Sounds delicious! I haven't broken out the pumpkin yet but I will soon.
Now you have me craving some dessert...and I DON'T have those ingredients in the house.
which, in the long run, is probably best for me.
LOL well guess what, I made it too...so fattening, and we gobbled it right up too! I can't make it again just for us though, I think I put on 5 lbs. ;D
That looks so good. I'll bet it makes the house smell good, too! I love fall scents. And pumpkin pie!
When I hear Paula Deen...I run the other way fast!!!! This recipe sounds to die for! Maybe to share a piece would be ok! I am looking forward to a good old piece of Pumpkin Pie! Oh n it has to have whipped cream on top!
