Warning: Picture of
Below the Knee Amputee
(Just in case you didn't really want to see this I thought I should warn you.)
But it seems that everyone is curious about what it looks like. Most haven't seen it because he usually has on his prosthesis. But it healed beautifully! He is a very blessed man.
He saw the orthopedic surgeon a few weeks ago and he was so thrilled. He held Harry's stump in his hands and was so pleased with how well it had healed. He even said something about it being a miracle. Apparently a lot of times things don't always heal the way the Dr's. would like, but this time it was perfect.
See right where the pointing finger is, that's his scar. It couldn't be more perfect. Only God knew how all this would turn out. For a man who had an amputation, MRSA* and coded in September while in the hospital and nearly died, he's lucky to be alive.
(*MRSA infection is caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria — often called "staph." MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It's a strain of staph that's resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics commonly used to treat it. MRSA can be fatal.)
I guess a lot of you must wonder why you still see him riding a scooter or me pushing him in the wheelchair? Well, it doesn't have anything to do with his prosthesis, it's great. It's because he has no equilibrium. When he had his heart attack and during bypass surgery he suffered a slight stroke. That caused him to lose the hearing in his left ear and his balance. So with his equilibrium gone he doesn't walk around a lot. When he was having physical therapy they tried to teach him to use a cane but it just seemed to trip him up even more. He just gave up on the idea. He's afraid of falling. So to be on the safe side he rides or is pushed. He does walk short distances if he has some one's arm to hold on to or a wall or handrail. I'm not sure why he won't use a walker, maybe he's embarrassed, I'm not sure.
So he can walk, he just doesn't trust his self to do it very often. But that hasn't slowed him down much. He seems to get anywhere he want's to be.
On a different note, he also saw the Internist last week. All of his blood work and tests were normal!!!
Let me say again, HE COULDN'T BE MORE BLESSED! He knows that and I know that. I thank each of you for your continued thoughts and prayers. We just couldn't do it with out the Lord's help, and He helps and blesses us so much. He is our strength and we owe Him the praise and glory!

We're so happy for you guys. It's been a long road for your family.
I'm so glad that everything is well with him and your family-you deserve the blessings. Harry looks really good.
Glad he did so well and isn't letting anything get in his way of doing whatever he wants to do!
What a beautiful miracle. Looks like Harry healed up perfectly.
much love!
wow, he is an amazing person...
just like you!
we sure do love pop pop! he is one of the best men ive ever known!
Glad he is doing so well. He looks great! Aren't men funny - James is just the opposite. He uses a rolling walker (he calls it his pony) - won't use a wheelchair! We are always afraid he is going to fall!
I am so glad Harry has recovered so wonderfully. Your faith in God is so strong Gigi; He has truly carried you both through. You deserve all of His blessings!
Looks like all of you have a fantastic time at the zoo!!
