Friday Shoot Out

Friday Shoot Out
This weeks theme:
Outdoor Food
20 pounds of Fresh Georgia Wild Shrimp

Straight off the shrimp boats in Darien

Low Country Boil

Includes, Shrimp, Potatoes,
Sausage and Corn on the cob.

You start out by boiling the potatoes and when they are half way done you add the corn and the sausage. The way we cook it we empty the pot now and then add the shrimp to the same water. The shrimp take less that 5 minutes to cook.

We use to pour it all together on to a table covered with news paper.
That's how it really should be served. We got a little fancier this time.
Add in some butter and cocktail sauce and have at it. Click here for a version of the recipe.

If by chance you have any leftover shrimp,
peal and chop them and make shrimp salad.

I serve mine in a fresh home grown tomato.
Yum!

Not to leave out the cancer causing hot dogs.
The water park leaves you really hungry.
We were sitting under a red umbrella.
Didn't it cast an odd glow over us?

Can't leave out the Cheetos and sprite.

I took some pictures of our left over buns that we threw to the black birds but they didn't turn out. Also the picture of the out door cat food is on the other camera card. I could have added a lot more to this but time is short and I just needed to get this up before I'm off and running.

Make it a Great weekend!

Another Wedding Weekend

My D.I.L., Christon's little sister Chelsey and her fiancee David will be married on Saturday. I think that Christon has single handedly organized and planed this wedding. She's very good at it.
I will NOT be taking the wedding pictures but I will be covering the rehearsal dinner Friday night. I'm excited to see Christon and the oldest Grand~girl in their Maid of Honor and Flower Girl dresses! This is going to be a fun wedding.

BR 549

Some strange reason BR 549 popped into my head last night. You know just random junk. I always loved Junior Samples on Hee Haw. He was on there for 14 years. No matter what he was a sellin he wanted you to call BR 549. I think this is showing my age :(

Meet Lauren Shepherd

This stray adopted Travis and Jordan.
They took her and had her fixed.
All she needed was a name.
Shelby was quick to offer help!
She suggested they name her
Lauren Shepherd.
And so it is.
****
Shel and Rae came in a few weeks ago carrying a huge plastic fish bowl. All they needed was a fish. Ugh, a big moan from me.
Thanks a lot D.I.L. It took a few weeks for me to work up the nerve. Last Thursday we went and bought 2 goldfish and before we got home they had names, Ronica and Chambers.
So you can tell them apart.
One's a boy and one's a girl.
****
If you are in need of a pet or baby name give me a call. I'll ask the 4 year old her recommendations. She's good. She can come up with a name Johnny on the spot.

Happy Birthday Courtney

Today is Courtney's Birthday!

Courtney is Harry's (aka Sweetheart) cousin.

Ever since she was a little girl she wanted to share her birthdays with Harry. Yesterday was his birthday. His is the 26th and her's is the 27th. She has always wanted to include him in her birthday parties. She has his name put on her cake too.

Last year when Harry was in the hospital on their birthday's she didn't have a party or celebrate. She wanted to wait until he was better so they could celebrate it together.

She has always held a special place in his heart.

We celebrated their birthday's Saturday night.
This was their cake! Yes it was GOOD!
No I didn't make it but I did eat it.
Happy Birthday Courtney,
love you much!

Sunday Stills

Sunday Stills:
This weeks theme: Toys

These Waffle Blocks will be 30 years old this Christmas. Santa brought these to Harrison on his very first Christmas. I've often thought about giving them away to the church nursery. I'm so glad I didn't they are some of mine and the kids favorite toys. I have two bags of these.

This is inside the toy box but the other half of the toys are on the floor.

I love my Kermit. He sings.

This is the only toy that is new. We got this one this past Christmas. Lately it has become Rae's favorite. She carries it around everywhere and loves putting it together.
Check out Sunday Stills and join us sometime.

Reflections

Friday Shoot Out theme is Reflections and was chosen by Audrey from Canada. Check her out sometime she is a great blogger and oh, so sweet.
Do you remember Officer Josh Bain??
Click here if you don't remember.
I've been meaning to give yall and update.
He was released from the Dr.s for "light duty".
There is no such thing at his job.
So It will probably be another month
of P/T and then he'll be back to
chasing down the bad guys.
Talk about Miracles, this guy has
had many. He's been blessed.
That's my reflection in his glasses.

Reflection of trees in the water.

Reflection of the dock.

Reflections in eyes.

Reflections in the temple doors.

I've got more pictures but no more time. I might try to add them over the weekend. Off and running again today. Or it might be chasing that I'll do the most of today with a 4 and 2 year old leading the pack!
Make it a great weekend!

13 Things Thursday

13 Things I've Learned Latley

1. That sleeping at a Holiday Inn Express doesn't make you a wedding photographer, it takes a lot more effort than that.

2. Camera equipment is expensive! And I like expensive equipment and it does make a difference. And I'd like to have some.

3. That being the oldest of 5 children was great preparation for Photographing a wedding and telling people where to go and what to do and how to do it!

4. That when you are the photographer you don't have time to eat any CAKE!! (and we all know that is the main reason I go to weddings is for the cake!)

5. It is hard to photograph children.

6. Two photographers are better than one. And the other one will take a picture of you when you have sweat-ed buckets and look like the wicked witch of the west. Thank you son, NOT. Always have a back up plan.

7. Beautiful people are easier to take pictures of than not so beautiful people.

8. That you my friends and family have much more confidences in me than I have in myself and I appreciate that. God does hear and answers prayers, thank heavens!

9. Photographers charge a lot of money because it is stressful and hard work and it's not even over after you have taken the pictures. You have to prepare the pictures for printing and viewing and delivering the goods. Weddings are expensive, elope! Save the money for a down payment on a home.

10. I like being on the other side of the camera better than having my picture made.

11. To say "say cheese" after about the 4th time becomes lame. Saying "say hairy pickles" or "on the count of 3" is better but I really need some help with that part.

12. That one should think about getting married in the winter in Alabama and not the middle of July, just sayin...

13. That 1013 miles round trip is a long way to drive to take pictures unless you are going there anyway or you love your nephew as much as I do. Love you both, Ashton and Annie.

14. I know I said 13 things, but this is my blog and I can have 14 things. I AM SO OVER THIS WEDDING, I'm done!

15. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOTTIE, I LOVE YOU! (hush it up, I can have 15 too)

Thank you all for your patience! Peace Out.

My Pleasure

At the drive thru yesterday
I check my order.
"May I have some forks, please?"
She turns and hands me some forks.
Then just looks at me.
I'm waiting on the rest of my order.
She looks at me as if I'm crazy.
"My sandwich?"
She looks around and grabs another
bag and shoves it out the window.
I check my bags again.
"May I have some napkins please?"
She hands me some napkins.
I say "thank you"
She rolls her eyes and says,
"My pleasure."
I wondered if it really was.

Some Favorites

We took so many pictures just hoping some would turn out. My son Travis took pictures as well. As you know this was our very first wedding. We were both really surprised at how well our pictures turned out. We were pleased and so were the families. Travis took the first 3 pictures and I took the rest. I will post a slide show of all the random family shots, guests, cake, dancing and so forth some time soon.

This last one is one of my very favorite.

Sunday Stills

Sunday Stills
This weeks theme: Awe Nuts!
This is a picture of the Groom and his brothers.
It's that youngest brother that is the focus
of my Sunday Stills~Awe Nuts.

Ammon is 7 years old.

Handsome little man.

This is what a 7 year old thinks of weddings.

I cropped him out of a few pictures.

Picture after picture.

I got faces like this.

We took so many pictures that there
were enough of him with sweet
faces to get us by.
But I had no idea there were
so many of his goofy faces.

Just bored with the whole picture taking thing.

But like I said, we did get a few with sweet faces.

So these were my interpretations of "Nuts"
