Classic TV

We had ONE Black and White TV when I was growing up. Someone had to get up and go over and change the channel when we wanted to watch something different. If I can remember we only got 3 or 4 channels. Most of the time growing up we didn't have cable we had an outside antenna. Sometimes we could get better reception with some tinfoil on the tv's antenna inside the house. My parents didn't let us watch a lot of TV but some of the shows that we did watch and that I still love today, I've listed below. Now they call it Classic TV. I guess I'm an old classic.

I Love Lucy

My Three Sons

The Flying Nun

Mr. Ed (the talking horse)

Andy Griffith Show

Gomer Pyle

Lassie

Lost In Space

Hogan's Heroes

Green Acres

Petty Coat Junction

Beverly Hillbillies

Bonanza

Captain Kangaroo

I Dream Of Jeannie

Bewitched

Ed Sullivan Show

Gunsmoke

Wagon Train

Leave It To Beaver

The Wonderful World of Disney
I thought of a few more.
Flipper
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Batman
Gilligan's Island
The Twilight Zone
The Munsters
Hazel
Have Gun Will Travel
The Honeymooners

I'm sure you can add some to my list?? Most of you grew up in a different age of TV. But what were your favorites?

I remember the tin foil and black and white. I also remember having to get up to change the channel.
About 1976 or so my parents bought a used color tv and then my dad who loves gadgets, bought some kind of thing that attached to the tv, had a long cord and he could lay on the couch and push this remote thingy and change the four channels we had and even turn it off. Pretty wild!

I can relate to all of that! I don't think I ever watched "Wagon Train" but I LOVE the rest of those "classics"!!

I totally remember them all. I was in love with Little Joe and Heath. So many fond memories wrapped up in those shows. Great post.

Not only was the TV black and white, but it had to "warm up" for a minute before we could see the picture!
Every TV show you listed, I watched. I still love Andy of Mayberry. The Wonderful World of Disney was on Sunday nights, if I remember right, and my mom would make fudge during that time.
Good memories.

I so remember all of that...and the big tubes in the TV. I used to help my dad when he worked on the TV by holding a mirror in front so he could see what was happening on the screen. Blessings, SusanD

That's back in the days when people did more things with their hands like change TV channels and went outside to play. I watched most of those shows too.

I also remember a siren or whistle would go off at noon. That's when we knew it was time to go home and eat lunch.

CGMan and I were just talking about that the other day! My favorite is the Dick Van Dyke Show. I thought Luara was so pretty and Rob so handsome!

I remember that you used to get to stay up and watch Gunsmoke! I remember all of those shows. I used to like to watch the Munsters on Saturday mornings ... it was around 6:00/6:30, way before cartoons came on. I used to love me some Saturday morning cartoon. We didn't get a color TV in the house until 1981, a few months before I went to Ricks.
