Do you know ?
Does Louis Armstrong ring a bell?
Louis Daniel Armstrong (August 4, 1901– July 6, 1971), nicknamed Satchmo or Pops, was an American jazz trumpeter and singer.
Coming to prominence in the 1920s as an innovative cornet and trumpet player, Armstrong was a foundational influence on jazz, shifting the music's focus from collective improvisation to solo performers. With his distinctive gravelly voice, Armstrong was also an influential singer, demonstrating great dexterity as an improviser, bending the lyrics and melody of a song for expressive purposes. He was also greatly skilled at scat singing, or wordless vocalizing.
Renowned for his charismatic stage presence and deep, instantly recognizable voice almost as much as for his trumpet-playing, Armstrong's influence extended well beyond jazz, and by the end of his career in the '60s, he was widely regarded as a profound influence on popular music in general: critic Steve Leggett describes Armstrong as "perhaps the most important American musician of the 20th century."
And now for your listening pleasure:
What A Wonderful World!

(This song is the song that I danced to with both boys at their wedding receptions when they had to dance with their mama.)

When I saw Satchmo, I knew this was your favorite song...remember when Robin Williams played it in "Good Morning Viet Nam"? A.J. can sing it and sound almost like the master himself.
Hmm can you guess my favorite song? lol!
When I saw the photo, I instantly knew it was this great musician. My dad always listened to a wide variety of music which gave me an appreciation for all genres. I truly miss all those "variety" shows...now we are inundated with "reality" shows. Which have nothing to do with reality. I'm thankful for my dad. Blessings, SusanD
Beautiful, what a wonderful way to start my day and my week. Thanks for sharing.

Love Satchmo! Love his trumpet playing tooooooop!
Living this long I have so many favorites! There is just so much beautiful music. That's one thing that has hurt me so much about Sissy Claire's deafness. she hasn't been able to enjoy all the beautiful music - but one day. . . One great day!
Hugs,
mama
What a wonderful song to dance with your boys. I have eclectic tastes in music and this is one of my favorites. Music sure ain't what it used to be.
Wow, Louis Armstrong-------my parents had some of his albums, back when there were albums, and I love his musica as well. Those cheeks --the way they blow out when he's blowing on his horn. AND how totally cool that you danced to that song at your sons's wedding. That is neat beyond neat.
