Screaming!

I came home from playing at the park and saw the sweetheart on the tractor.
I was excited until he told me he cut the phone lines again!
I made him call AT&T!
We will not have phone or Internet until Friday or Saturday.
Friday Shoot Out Gang, forgive my absents this week.
Be back with ya next week.
All the rest if you need us try our cell phones!

Tasty Tuesday

Last week Cherie over on Bakow Babble made and shared this wonderful recipe for fudge that is pretty enough to serve for Halloween and fall treats. So I made it and got down to the part where you add the food coloring and found that I didn't have any Red Food Coloring :{ You know I must have used it all on that Red Velvet Cake or the Red Velvet Cheesecake the last time I made it, any who, all I had was yellow. Well I must tell you that it turned out tasting GREAT but it looked like CRAP! I am to embarrassed to show my picture so I asked permission from Cherie to show her picture and she agreed. Thank you much Cherie.
**Now my word of caution to you is this: Make it! Taste it! Have one more little taste! Now cut it up and run next door and give it to your neighbors. Take it to work. Hey, take it to the ladies you visit teach or leave some in the mail box for your favorite postman but DON'T KEEP IT AROUND YOUR HOUSE! You might just eat more than you really need. It's that good!

Orange Marble Fudge
3/4 cup butter
3 cups sugar
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1 package vanilla or white chips
1 Jar marshmallow creme
3 teaspoons orange extract
12 drops yellow food coloring
5 drops red food coloring
Grease a 13 x 9 inch pan. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cream and butter . Cook and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 4 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in chips and marshmallow creme until smooth. Remove 1 cup and set aside.
Add orange extract and food colorings to the remaining mixture; stir until blended. Pour into prepared pan. Drop the reserved mixture by tablespoonfuls over top; cut through mixture with a knife to swirl. Cover and refrigerate until set - then you can leave it on the counter. This must be made many, many times throughout the Fall!

Great Value? Not so much!

Have you noticed the new packaging of Wal~Mart brand products? Well, I have and you would think that the new plain look would cost less wouldn't you? But NO! The old green packaging was $1.46 the new plain white packaging is now $1.79!

I guess it costs more to be plain!

On a different note, yesterday as Shelby and I were heading home from another photo shoot I spotted this set of tracks. I've been wanting to try and take some pictures here. These tracks run behind Griffis Steel Co. and being it was a late Sunday afternoon and not much traffic or anything else going on and I had the camera, and the time and a willing participant it was a good time to try and take some pictures.

(If you click on the picture you can enlarge it for more detail.)

As we got out there on the tracks I told Shelby, "your mama would die if she saw us out here!"

It didn't take but a few minutes and I snapped a few shots and we got back in the truck and went on home.

Once we got home, I loaded the pictures on the computer.

I thought, I think I'll load them on to Face book.

I kid you not, no sooner than I hit the publish button, maybe a half a minute later the phone rang :)
It was Christon calling, so I had Shelby answer it.
She was standing by me and I heard Christon say, "Have you been playing on the rail road tracks??" Shelby was kind of surprised she knew about it and she said "yes."
She told Shelby, "that we don't play on the rail road tracks."
Yeah we know, but she told her "we could run fast" :-)
Another funny thing about it was that my daddy saw the pictures on Face book and said, "NO BOW? She's so pretty".
Might have been Papa's first time ever not seeing a bow in Shela's hair.
I guess I can shock folks every now and then.
I love it!!

Friday Shoot Out

Friday Shoot Out

This week's theme, chosen by Cindy,

is MY FAVORITE PLACE TO_______.

(I guess this isn't exactly my town but it's what I have on hand. )

Go to the B*E*A*C*H

It's Crescent Beach, Florida

Crescent Beach is just 6 miles south of Gordon's St Augustine Beach.

It is an hour and a half drive south of my town Brunswick, Georgia.

As you can tell it's one of the last beaches that you can still drive onto with your car.

These pictures were taken at low tide and in the evening. One of my favorite times of day at the beach.

Our GRAND~girls just love it as much as we do.

Digging in the white sands is a favorite thing to do for children and adults a like.
My parents took me to this same beach as a child.
I took my children and now I take my GRAND~children and their friends.
That's my big boy Travis who can dig one handed.
Remember the other hand is wrapped up due to the MRSA infection.
He posted a recent picture of how much it has healed so go see for yourself by clicking
here.

Great place to run.

The dunes are beautiful.
Almost looks like snow.
I guess it is, Florida snow.

Clouds starting to roll in.

Turning around and looking over my shoulder, the rain was coming.
Time to load up and go.

Driving back into St. Augustine we were looking for fun.

And we found it on the Merry Go Round!

Just look at the excitement!

Sweet fun.

I Decided

I decided on Roasted Red Pepper Soup

Mmm Good!

Roasted Red and Yellow Pepper Soup

3 whole bell peppers
1 tablespoon each butter and olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 large carrot, chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian style diced tomatoes, undrained
1 teaspoon honey
3 cups chicken or vegetable stock
1/4 to 1/3 cup heavy cream or half and half
fresh basil, if desired

Roast bell peppers until blackened in most places. (I usually do it over a gas flame, but you can also do it in the oven at 450 degrees.) Place peppers in a zip top bag for ten minutes. Remove from bag, remove stem and seeds and peel peppers, scraping with a knife. Chop coarsely. Heat olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium high heat. Add peppers, onion, garlic, and carrot. Saute until vegetables are softened, about five minutes. Add tomatoes with juices, honey and stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until all vegetables are softened. Blend soup in blender, food processor, or with immersion blender, until not almost smooth, but with some chunky texture. Add cream and heat until just below a simmer. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve with fresh basil, sour cream and croutons if desired.

Honored

Y'all remember these wedding pictures of my nephew and his wife that I took in July?

I know, how could y'all forget if I keep bringing them back up again and showing them every chance I get, right?

Aren't they a beautiful couple?

This is Annie's twin sister Nikki, in the blue.
She's getting married December 23 of this year.
Guess who she wants to take her pictures???
That's right folks!
She wants "Moi"
Still trying to see how we can make that happen.
It's not looking real good at this point.
But I feel so honored they asked :)
Oh, and I forgot to add, they said "for PAY"
That means Money!!!

The Day Before

On Friday, Captain aka Kathryn found out

she was going to have her little bundle of

joy 2 weeks early. Doctor scheduled it for

Sunday morning. That meant we didn't

have two weeks to get her pictures made,

we had to do them Saturday evening.

The weather was perfect and we got a lot

of great pictures. Then finished off the

evening with a wonderful seafood dinner.

Here are a few of the pictures I liked.

They haven't seen them yet.

I really hope they like them.

The proud father to be.

A picture of love.

The little mommy to be.

And thanks to Christon, who got to be in

the delivery room with the little family,

I bring to you the little man getting

his first grooming session.

Welcome to the world
